PG Situation/Battle at Point in 17-18?

Moyer at the 2???? I'm worried about him at the 3. He can play some 3 (but moreso in 2 years when he cleans up his handle) but he's more of a 4.
Okay, so Frank isn't a great shooter with the ball. But he's shot pretty well in a lot of games this year so the potential is there. I think.

What if we made battle the PG and moved Frank to the 2G? Worth a try at this point.
Do we have a 2nd Frank on the team? Are you talking about Frank Howard?

I wish we could have a "poll option" on this site. I'd love to start one to get people's opinions on our PG situation.

- Battle now/Battle next year
- Howard now/Howard next year
- Battle now/open competition for next year.

etc, etc.

Curious what you consider upper limits NL... 10/25? Higher?

In AZ it was 75/150 max on the limit side... 5/10 max on NL. Some 10/25 NL but not allowed in AZ. I was mostly 40/80 or 60/120 Limit before I switched to NL.

Yeah, I play 2/5 NL. Just haven't in the past year.

I used to play a lot at Casino AZ but the games got too loose. Even the high limits. I'm not tight but I ain't into chasing dreams in the river either.

I remember your ID from many years ago... I had a ClockworkOrange ID but I didnt post much and it got deleted. I like to play for fun more now but its a nice side income I picked up an extra 10k playing this summer. Poker is much more fun when you're not reliant on it. Always down for a game if you are.

Battle is a better wing but I don't want him playing point this year because if he does well, his stock goes through the roof. Selfish of me? Yes.

Good call. He's shown recently that he excels with the ball in his hands. Much like the NBA is moving towards larger guards running the point and moving away from a traditional sized PG (a la Butler in Chicago, Harden in Houston, Antetokoumpo in Milwaukee, etc), I could see Battle doing well at the point for us.

But yeah, whether it's as a 1 or a 2 for us next year, we NEED him back. Being a one and done would be disastrous for the program.

Its the only real spot to play... though I prefer Gila River if just going to play for fun 8/16 or 300Max.

I play at The Sands in Bethlehem, PA. I live in Northern NJ. There's a deep 10/25 NL game with pros. I don't play in it. Some of them start with $10k.

Love the banter about internet gambling gents, but can we keep it on topic to the thin draw that is our PG situation?? (See what I did there??)

Then again if you are upset about "too loose" you aren't adjusting right... not describing you but thats an excuse. It's a different game and a totally different game. Easy to get swept up in if not prepared to take advantage of it.

I'd say you're wrong... but based on the last couple games and how the NBA drafts today you can pretty much remove Robey's name from NBADraft.net and sub in Battle. I just thought with us being bad this year and no tourney we might keep him a year. He certainly not proven enough to be there yet but based on the last couple games if he continues his uptick I agree.
As long as he works out for a few teams he's gone. Seeing as he can put his name in the draft it's 100℅ he will. Once NBA scouts see his potential up close he's gone. I don't see him back no matter what happens the rest of the way. Players are drafted on potential and upsside which he has loads of. Someone will give him a roster spot and let him develop in the d-league rather than at Syracuse

Its not internet so is it OK? I like your posts I feel more hopeful about poker than our PG situation though. :)

Hmm haven't played there... I do an AC trip when visiting family in MD but lots has changed back east legalization wise. It will prob be juicy next trip.

Can I downvote this from sadness??? Prob right ...

It's not about internet gambling. It's about live poker, much more live than our future backcourt and wing prospects. See what I did there?

Battle could play point guard for us but the way our roster is constructed, we are probably better off with him at the 2. If Lydon could play the 3, all bets are off. But he looked awkward and uncomfortable when we tried it early this season. And White can't play the 2. So... No. Next year? If he's here, maybe. But we still need a three. What a mess.

Hmm so getting back to basketball... is it really that Lydon can't play the 3 or more than it leads to us sucking in the 4/5? I think Lydon is a pretty decent defender. I mean on D the 3 and 4 are the same... but we only have 2 guys down low who can play D (maybe a healthy DC as a third).

White cannot play the top of the zone. Moyer is a 4 in our system not a 3. He need Duarte and Ayala to reclassify. I think Ayala could play the 2 with Duarte playing both the 2 and 3 as a backup. Hopefully there is a capable 2/3 on the 5th year market. Every time I write something like this I realize how screwed we are and it ruins my night.

Ive heard this but I'm not sure... the 3 and 4 in the zone are just wings... I don't like AWIII as a 2 he's kinda slow but I wonder sometimes if that's worse than the letting Gillon or FH play the more time he gets to learn the zone.

In my opinion it's much worse. White can't play up top. I would rather see 36 minutes of Gillon and it kills me to say that.

I think Lydon could play the 3...if we had a Billy Owens at the 4.

Seriously though, I think it's more about the skill sets of the players complimenting each other. With the 4's and 5's on this roster, Lydon doesn't really fit at the 3 offensively. On another team in another year, maybe it would work better.

Not as concerned with Lydon on D at the 3. The issue is he just looks like he lacks the ability to separate from smaller, more athletic defenders when he's there on offense. At the 4/5 he creates matchup troubles for the opponents. Not so at the 3. I'm convinced he gained bad weight this off-season. JB and others saying he gained muscle is laughable. His arms look like jelly. JB said that we tried Lydon at the 3 and it just didn't work.
