Says Orange has played only one good game this year.

Says, incorrectly, that missed PAT call cost Toledo the lead at the time.

Says that Orange beat WF only because of injury to QB.

Says L'ville has very good defense and solid young QB who will play well at home.

Says it will be a low scoring game but that L'ville is the better team and will win by a TD.

ha got ya by one minute PA. good minds think alike

for what it's worth, AA expects Louisville's defense to break before the orange's (i felt it should be posted to both)

1. If by good, he means a complete 60 minute game where offense/defense/special teams click, then that is an accurate statement.

2. Obviously that is incorrect.

3. All homerism aside, that is accurate.

4/5. It will be a very, very tough game for us, but I think we win a low-scoring field-position game.

Yes, no doubt we were lucky to beat Wake, I think everyone would admit that, and their qb going down did help for sure.. But we won the game, just like we lost to Rutgers... a win is a win, a loss is a loss. If Syracuse comes out and plays a solid 60 minutes we win, plain and simple, if we have a stretch where the O goes 2 quarters with 1 first down, etc etc, then all bets are off. Play well, keep down and distance and the O is very effective, run the ball somewhat effectively and handle the Louisville pressure and we will be fine.. Nassib is really beginning to get this phase of the game, hands down the 2nd best qb in the league right now, not even close. Put a stamp on the game, Strong is a damn good D coach though

Way too many talking heads, dealing with absolutes, spouting off trying to hear their voice as if there some type of expert... oh wait that is me too:bat:

He is pretty much spot on (maybe the toledo exact detail is off, but his point is right)... and is free to pick who he wants.

Let's move on. This is no andrea adelson ranking us 118 preseason or leaving us out of a bowl prediction at 5-3 last year.

The Wake comment is BS, because the only reason the QB got hurt was because we knocked him out of the game. Why would that be discounted?

People who point to Wake's QB going down as a way to diminish SU's win over Wake has to also recognize Chandler's injury in the same game.

Steele conveniently ignores the fact that we have our best player on defense back fully healthy, and he can take over a game.

Agreed. Although Steele picked us to not even make a bowl game this year. He is very good tho

SU plays their game, they win, there is no real talent differential that needs to be compensated for, it's a pretty even match up... It's a coin flip game regardless of what these guys say.. Mack Mack needs to step up and handle the pressure and I give the kid credit he has had some help but he certainly is a scrappy gamer...

can't argue with some of those points - but clearly the conclusion is wrong. Steele has been leading the SU is no good bandwagon all year, consistently picking against them and being wrong, and he's still trying to justify how wrong he has been to this point by downplaying SU's achievements.

Hey Phil - it's ok, you can admit your mistakes - stop digging the hole even deeper buddy.

He's not exactly wrong. We have only played one good game all year.

We did beat Wake because their QB went out. But, we knocked him out so we should get credit for that.

The extra point is what it is. A win is a win but anyone had a legit right to point to that game with a question mark.

44cuse

We're 5-2, who the hell cares how we got here.

Do you think if at the end of the year we're 10-2 or 9-3 or something, a bowl game is going to go "well, they beat Wake when their QB went down, and there was a bad call against Toledo".

Phil Steele is right (kinda) - SU needs to not only win but "beat down" UL like the WVA win to prove SU can beat up any defense we face from here on out and prove that we are different team versus the team that played during the first half of the season.

A beat down of UL & UConn would change the nations view of SU - much love coming if we can win big the next 2 games.

If we win 3-2, all I care about is the 'W'.

Michigan won the Snow Bowl against Ohio State in 1950 9-3 without registering a single first down and scoring on a safety, and a blocked punt in the endzone. All that matters is the win.

He's been wrong all year about SU. Louisville is horrific on offense and their QB is maybe better than what's at UConn, but that's it. Defense is very good, but they haven't faced many quality offenses beyond Cinci and UNC.

And the "good" game stuff is a misnomer. One complete game yes, but they have only played one bad game, and that would be Tulane, which they won, and had a double digit lead at one point.

I don't care what Phil Steele says. We're 5-2 and playing for bowl eligibility tomorrow. Nothing anybody says about how we got to 5-2 matters. Maybe he's mad that his BIG brother Lexington, graduated from SU and he didn't.

He can try to throw cold water on us all he likes.

That WVa game made a lasting impression.

He may have a point but only haters or nerds are going to pick apart the early season schedule. Keep winning and no one cares.

Then it must also be accurte that we lost to rutgers only because Jones and Thomas were out.

I'll rephrase... Tanner Price going down was not the only reason we beat Wake Forest, but at the very least, it was an extraordinarily fortunate break. If that injury does not take place, our chances of winning decrease significantly.

Syracuse football has had so many heartbreaking moments over the past years, that I'm completely secure with the fact that we have a surplus of good fortune this year.
