Pitt is 5th in the ACC in rushing defense

Was the win fun yesterday? Yes. Is that style of play sustainable for the next two games? In my opinion, absolutely not.

Also, the idea of Syracuse moving to a triple option sounds terrible. It's fun when you rush for almost 400 yards, but dreadful to watch when it's not that level of production.

With over 130 teams at the division 1 level, there's a large enough sample size to show that running a triple option is not a sustainable option at this level. It also won't put butts in the seat.

These 2 things can be true…

Pitt is awful.

It’s great that we beat them.
An awful team that hammered the #11 team in the country though.

No but they certainly said 5-7 is the median and maybe that’s what you two are arguing about. Semantics.
No one thinks ceiling and median are synonyms, not even the temperamental.

If we go bowling.. don’t extend Dino’s contract which runs out next year .. if he doesn’t produce next year let him know he’s done and we get a new coach no buyout payment needed

You’re right but let’s not mistake Pittsburgh for Colgate.

I’m trying to keep positive since I’m very happy we won. I’ll just say that Pitt is a very bad team. One surprise win notwithstanding.

Makes you wonder if the triple option, with the right talent, is sustainable in the ACC.

Win 4 OOC games, and a minimum of two conference games, probably more. Never get blown out because you’d be controlling the clock. Sign me up.

No to Triple Option. I would be open to using some form of the Rich Rod system though.

I think the logical thing to do is use this game as some sort of I told you so moment in defense of Babers

It's Shaferesque, like when we needed a trick play to beat an FCS Nova team.
How is it Shaferesque? Georgia Tech ran that offense under Paul Johnson his entire tenure and it worked. They went 82-61 using that style of play. Georgia Tech would move mountains to be that successful again. This board finds illegitimate reasons to be mad.

You don't see a difference between what Paul Johnson ran as a program identity on offense, and what we ran yesterday? We ran a gimmick, not a new offensive identity.

I'm not saying Shafer ever ran what we ran yesterday. I'm saying Shafer had to rely on a gimmick to win against an inferior opponent. And that's what we did yesterday.

Keeping him without an extension would be detrimental to the program. With as bad as recruiting is now, how do you imagine recruiting as a lame duck coach would go? The same goes for the transfer portal as well.

I would be open to not just adopting parts of that system, but HIRING Rich Rod. No reason we can't at least inquire.
