Pitt opens -3.5 over Cuse….

Bunch of books up to -6. This is the same thing as NC state. Money just flowing towards whomever we play.

I wonder if Wax and Pena not playing is moving the line to Pitt. I know Wax was questionable all along but with Fran saying Pena is out, that's big news. Depending on who you talk to, Trebor can be considered as our #1, #2 or #3 receiver. He leads us in catches and TD receptions. Gonna be difficult to replace.

Never good to lose the DTs/MLB up the middle on D and to lose the #1 slot and #1 outside guy.

The good news is that we have played many snaps without Pena and hopefully the Two Ross's are up to speed now.
Going to be a steep learning curve for the two Ross's since neither one has a catch yet.

Pitt is the same D every year. They will bring pressure but you can exploit it (see every Duke game they used to play). Nationally they are tied for 5th in Sacks per FBS game. It will be a big challenge for us.

On O they are 14th in passing yards per FBS game. So far this year we have played 3 teams 112 or worse, and two teams between 70-75. We have yet to play a team in the Top half of FBS in passing yards per FBS game. Pitt will be a big challenge for us.
I don't think that's fair for UNLV. With their current QB, UNLV has a passing attack that's much better than their first few games with Sluka.

teams change.

UNLV got better with the change
Ohio lost the QB for several periods as well
NC st lost the Starting QB
Gt lost the top rated QB in the ACC after playing us
Stan QB got hurt and missed games and has played poorly since.

Well we are going to need good games from Allen, OG and Meeks. Will need either Gill, Hatcher or Ross-Simmons to step up. All capable.

To me this game is going to come down to who can get more stops on defense. Both teams will be scoring a good amount of points lol

If our offensive line gives McCord enough time to go through quick progressions we will be in the game.

Pitt is very much like us having 2 solid wins on the road and a good win at home against WV. They have won a few games late so we need to hold the ball in the 2nd half to prevent their last minute push. If we get up early (please be so) I think our offense will control the time clock. We will miss Pena in the quick possession game. Someone else besides Gadsen will need to step in for those quick 6-8 yard slants on 2nd/3rd/4th down.

GO CUSE

I think Emanuel Ross might be a factor this game.

I don't understand why CFN doesn't have a preview/analysis/prediction of our game on their home page. But they have them for games like Liberty/Kennesaw State.

I think it’s coming. Some of the other games listed just went up like 8 hours ago.

Its going to be good weather in the 50s most of the game and clear

Damn, Pena is out too! I view his enhanced role this season coming partly from being healthy, but he has really worked well as McCord's bail out receiver. His safety valve if you like. Yes, there will be someone in that position, but the same trust will not be there. Puts more on McCord.

Pena being out is worth 3 to 4 points minimally. He is the one guy that they had to account for when they bring pressure as he would make them pay. This game was always going to be tough, but this has made it super hard. I posted earlier that i would like to see LA in the slot position with Willis at RB.

Missing some key players matters, but the line started moving even before learning Pena was out. I'm pretty sure one of the main indicators for bettors is the history between the teams. That would also explain the line movement given we've not won at Pitt in a generation.
Hoping our change in coaching staff turns that statistic upside-down.

That's not an unreasonable thought from purely a fan's perspective, but I doubt it aligns with the staff's thinking, most especially Fran's. I think it's more likely they might look to establish LQA early, especially if Pitt goes to a light box.

I wish we had a FG kicker. Pitt will be chipping in FGs whenever they have a chance. We’ll be going for 7 out of necessity. Hey, if we can score TDs, great, but the efficiency is a lot lower. I hope we don’t lose this game because we simply can’t make a FG.

If we're giving up FGs, knowing this D's history, that would be a huge win.

Allen can catch but is running proper routes his thing? One reason we had the pick vs UNLV was he ran a poor route

For sure. Would rather them get 3 than 7. If that’s the scenario, I guess I’m for it, but I’m concerned with them accumulating points in all phases and we just can’t keep up.

Generally speaking, I guess I have a lot of concerns going into this game (Pena, etc). It’s going to be tough. Their kicking advantage gives them a bit of something extra we don’t have. I hope we score 7 every time we have the ball!

It’s not necessarily just the kicking advantage relative to extra points that matters.

We need to prove that we have fixed special teams more broadly.

And I will believe that when I see it.
