A lot of people don’t like video reviews of referee’s calls, especially as long as they take. “It may have been the longest 34 seconds in Nicholls State football history. Trailing by a touchdown with 34 seconds remaining in Saturday’s FCS Division I playoff game against South Dakota, Nicholls quarterback Chase Fourcade ran from the Coyotes’ 4-yard line to about the 6-inch line on fourth down. Whether or not it was enough for a first down was under review — as were any hopes the Colonels had of tying the game at 38. Finally, the officials announced it was enough, and the Colonels had new life. But two plays later as Kyran Irvin tried to cross the goal line with 20 seconds left, the ball came out and South Dakota appeared to recover in the end zone. The officials reviewed that play too, taking several minutes to confirm the decision, giving the Coyotes the 38-31 win and breaking the Colonels’ hearts.”

I’m sure the Bison want another shot at the Dukes but that would come in the title game the way brackets are set up so for now they have to deal with the Toreros.
