Plaza 44 Ceremony

The base nameplat actually looks like the cheapo option of a LL participation trophy. I mean, i dont want to be that guy that bashes every thing SU athletics does, but it does look cheap. At a minimum it looks like two different teams were involved in the project, the guy who made/designed that syatues, and the guy who made/designed the bases. And neither talked to each other.

Agree. It's really unfortunate because the statues are beautiful. But those LL Will & Baumer names plates are rather pathetic.

Statues are great - the base part with the name is horrible. Already have the name in gold. Already know where they played. Every time Syracuse does something good it looks second class compared to what other schools do. Spend the money, hire a modern firm outside of friends and family and make it look modern and classy. Why spend the money to look low budget every time? Say what you want - is it an upgrade? Yes. Does it look cheap and half ass compared to every other school? For the most part yes. Not sure who makes the decisions up there but they have no sense of class or style.

is it true that they are going to build a pond in the back and put Konrad's statue on the other side of it?

We should compare these statutes to the first Ernie Davis one. Still my favorite TGD moment...

Absolutely! Additionally, why go with the tombstone grey granite bases. Why not go with a warmer natural earth tone granite base to compliment the gorgeous bronze statues better?

The Jim Brown statue is a bit off, no? It looks like they captured him in that one moment during his SU career when he was mincing his way down the field.

Did Brown have no facemask?

surprisingly there aren't a lot of pictures of Jim Brown in a Syracuse uniform on google
