To provide additional time to make Saturday's invite-only event a campus and community wide celebration of SU Athletics, the Plaza 44/Ensley Center grand celebration and program is being rescheduled.

The event will now take place on Saturday, November 14, 2015 prior to the football game vs. Clemson.

More specific details will be shared with you very soon. We appreciate your understanding regarding this very special event.

Many thanks for your continued support.

David

Probably a better weekend for Jim Brown to show up! Yay!

maybe now they have time to advertise it? Or do they wait until after Election Day to start 'promoting' it :noidea:

I'm with ya. Don't quite understand the timing of it all... Unless they are making concessions to Mr. Brown's schedule. If that's it, I'm OK with the change. Other than that, not a good thing. :bat::noidea:

Great move as Clemson could be a huge TV game

JB was already confirmed to attend and was only notified at last minute of the change in plans.
Hopefully he will still be available in November!

And I got the invite. Not that I could have made it from AZ. But excited to be on the "inside" this year. Probably only for a year as I named a locker for the women's basketball team in my mother's memory. Still excited when I got my "exclusive" invite!! lol

November?

Nothing says "community wide" better than "come out and freeze your butts off". I would've thought that a Friday afternoon/evening event before one of the following 3 home games would've been more reasonable.

I feel bad for the statues... 2 more months under wraps. They won't see the sun until April.

Maybe not the best date to reset it at, but it's better than having the unveiling on Saturday with no game scheduled, yes? Coyle with a good change.

True, too bad they couldn't do it for the LSU game. Probably too soon or Jim Brown couldn't make that date or something

nov.14th????snow day---actually that would fitting for syracuse football and kind of neat!

Or during Orange Central when so many of us who do not normally get to partake in these type of things would be on campus and could be there.

the day after a Friday night game (which sucks anyway) was a bad idea to begin with. a private unveiling of a bunch of statues that are sitting there with tarps over them? give me a break at how stupid of an idea that is. it should have been done at the fanfest, people could have talked to their kids about the players and etc...I cant think of anything stupider than a private unveiling of a statues. I'm a season ticket holder, for years. I'm not invited to watch you pull a tarp off a statue? What are these people thinking? it should have been fanfest, total homerun. now it is a shitshow.

Unless Jim Brown couldn't make it for FanFest BUT he will DEFINITELY be there for the Nov date? Then it makes sense. The event would've needed to be promoted waaaaay in advance so that out-of-town season ticket holders and other VIPs could be there if they so desired.

Also: the ability to coordinate with media for possible TV broadcast/replay of the Nov. unveiling (w/ Jim B. and Floyd L. in attendance) would be a very good thing. I hope that this is the angle being pursued. Please.

Edit: Homecoming Weekend would've been perfect.

Having it on 10/31 would've been the 44th week of the year. But who's counting?

The way I read it was to tie in Ben's military service and Veterans Day/ military appreciation. Seems appropro to me, given the context.

Am i the only one who feels Mcnabb or Mcpherson should have a statue as well?

Yes

As much as I loved those two, they just aren't at the same level as the other three. Now, maybe if Donnie won the Heisman, like he should have, and Pat Dye had some balls and went for the win, I would agree on McPherson being there.

they wanted it to be private, now it will be public and unattended. not sure what the priorities were here, the statues were just sitting there with tarps on them at fanfest. let me reiterate that the only time anyone from the community that isn't some kind of die hard is anywhere near that part of campus was fanfest. and this department is so out of touch that they tried to make it into something exclusive. build as many statues as you want, talk to me when we can actually play football again.

what? We have a home game against Clemson, probably a nooner based on recent history, with free parking, free indoor tailgating, and you think only the diehards will show?
