Not sure what the docs at Crouse?Golisano are planning but there is a clinical trail at the University of Minnesota that uses stem cell transplant for treatment of this. I'v heard the doctor who leads that trial, Dr. John Wagner, speak. Its experimental but to my knowledge the only way to cure this condition. Hope this helps.
 
Done - happy to contribute. Why this country does not provide for universal health care at least for our children is a mystery to me. "Free market solutions" just do not address this issue. Maybe we will join the rest of the developed world one day. In the meantime, kudos to you for making us aware.
