Plus 1 for Coach Stallings

It's not good or bad sportsmanship. Sportsmanship is irrelevant to the situation.

edit: It's irrelevant as far as the coach's comments are concerned. It's relevant as far as the player's actions towards the opponent are concerned.

Real slow this time. A ... Coach... Acting... Inappropriately... On... The... Sideline... In... His... Position... As... A... Leader... Is... Bad... Sportsmanship.

More slowly this time. No....... it's..... not

edit: Who's the communist responsible for limiting the amount of periods I can enter in a row?

Anyone else think the Tennessee assistant or video coordinator or whatever he was completely overstepped his boundaries?

I thought that was pretty ballsy of him for sure. Kind of shocked me.

You are right the coach did act innappropiately he should of kicked him off the team instead for his history of being a punk. Coach did the right thing and ill let the ill kill you slide because it was not meant literally.

Your post to him in that manner, which does inply that he is stupid, is bad board sportsmanship. You should be suspended from the board for a day.

Didnt u get all hot and heavy when someone used the term guido? I dont think that person was being literal either, yet you got all fussy and bothered for a year.

Just to confirm, im not trying to blow what happened put of proportion. It wasnt a huge deal as i said in my earlier post. But he did show bad sportsmanship and was a poor example on how to lead.

I stand by my point that i think someone who doesnt consider a coaching acting inappropriate on the sideline as bad sportmanship is stupid. Ill agree its up for debate as to whether the coach acted appropriately or not.

Using an ethnic slur is much more out of bounds than anything coach did.

No it was more of i just got done gelling my hair, making chicken cutlets thing. From a newbie whos intentions were no good to begin with. If it was directed towards black people and what they ate it wouldnt of lasted two minutes. And it did piss me off for a few hours not a year.

Eh. I would never equate a boss to a coach. To me, they are not even remotely close. I have no problem with stallings reaction. None. Nada.
I haven't really paid attention to this but if Jake says it's cool, it must be. However the first thing I thought of is that I wonder if Kevin Stallings is in any trouble as a coach based on his W-L %. He has been at Vanderbilt for 14 seasons and except for a few decent seasons he has done little. In fact, looking it up, he is under .500 for his career for in-conference games. I would think that would have to bring up some conversation among boosters of that program. I went to a game a few seasons ago at Vanderbilt and the arena is a beautiful place to watch the game. Raised court, benches on the endline, raised bleaches overlooking the court. Very unique.

people always crying freedom of speech this is what happens it goes both ways.

Instead we should be crying freedom to act, Obviously he didn't mean it.

The academic standards at Vandy are just a bit different from the other schools in the SEC.

Three points:

BUT...Stallings recruited Baldwin. He certainly knew what Baldwin is like. This kind of conduct can't be a surprise to him.
If you want a team that behaves like men instead of punks, then don't recruit punks.

Great post.

I'm not disagreeing with that point. Vanderbilt is a great school. However if you look at the US News rankings, Stanford #4, Duke #8, Vanderbilt and Notre Dame tied at #16, are you saying those other schools are playing games with their basketball players. Those other have had much greater success than Vandy in basketball.

And how would you explain the success of the Vanderbilt baseball program. National Champions, multiple SEC championships. Is it that they can recruit smarter players or is the coach better.

First off. Being italian isnt a race. Second, i find it ironic you were such a cry baby because someone told you on a message board to eat chicken cutlets but your perfectly fine with a grown man berating a young kid on national tv like that. You must be having a brain freeze from eating too much gelato.

Cry baby? Youre the only baby here. Because im against ethnic slurs. Noone told me to eat anything. You know nothing coming from someone who said he read it. Kid had it coming he was warned before. I didnt do shhit for some ahole to use ethnic slurs on this board. Its not ok and it will never be ok, NEVER!!!

you really can't compare the athletic institutions of the four. N.D. and Stanford have been powerful schools. And Duke is at the top of the hoop world. Vandy has the "disadvantage" of their academics without the national rep for athletics.
