I got a chance to hang out with the Boeheim's Army team about 10 years ago and it was really fun chatting with the players that I had watched over the years. But the guy who stood out, who I was most nervous to meet, was Lawrence Moten. That guy was so cool on and off the basketball court.

I met Lawrence Moten back in 2011 when he and Pearl were doing a charity event at the Fair over near the old grandstand. My son and I were on our way to see a concert and they were at a nearby tent signing autographs. My son and I got our picture taken with the two of them. I have to pull that off the hard drive and frame it. Two of my all time favorites lost to the ages. 💔

This is so upsetting. His freshman year was my freshman year. He was so good right out of the gate.

I got to meet him a few years ago, 2021 I think, when I was up there for the Rutgers football game. Really nice guy. All he talked about was his daughter.

RIP to one of the legends.

I'm sick right now. He was my favorite player when I was a kid. His last 3 years where my 8th, 9th and 10th grade years so I was at the right age but just loved watching him play. So smooth and just scored within the offense. I never met him but was always told what a great guy he was. Such a huge loss.

Lawrence Moten was the first Syracuse star i cared about. I decided to attend Syracuse only weeks before the 1995 NCAA Tournament. I remember watching that Tournament as passionate about a sports program as I had ever been and I remember Poetry in Motion leading the way. Gutted at this one.
