Poetry in Motion...

I literally bought a vintage cursive script jersey of him over the summer.

I was born in 1982, so I was a bit too young to be emotionally attached to our players from the 80s. The Autry/Moten/Wallace era is what really began my love affair with SU basketball.

As others have mentioned, there was a coolness to his game (George Gervin-esque) that will perhaps never be replicated here. I'm confident SU will do something special at a game this year to honor his legacy.

I know we hate each other 99% of the time, but for whatever it's worth, the Boneyard has a very kind and respectful thread about him going.
Club 82 here too.

Man, this one hurts. If you’re a kid of a certain age that grew up in cuse, Lawrence Moten was an icon. The amount of kids that I played against at all the Syracuse parochial elementary schools in the early-to-mid-90’s that wore their socks high like him was overwhelming. We all wanted to play like him. To be as cool as him. What a sad day. RIP, Poetry.

He was the reason I wore 21 and the reason it became my all time favorite and lucky number. Will still Moten sock at times. So very sad, perhaps he was simply ready to ascend to the next plane, if it exists. RIP

Just so sad. What an amazing college basketball player and probably could have been our number 1 wr too. Great athlete, great ambassador for the Orange, even greater human being. RIP21
