The competition for the top spot in the Inside Lacrosse Men’s Division I Media Poll is as close as ever, as one point separates No. 1 Maryland and No. 2 North Carolina.
That doesn’t matter as much as the top seed in the forthcoming NCAA Tournament, which will be decided on Selection Sunday.
North Carolina has gotten more votes based on its co-ACC championship and beating Duke on Sunday. Maryland, which was idle this week, still has the Big Ten Tournament ahead with more opportunities to boost its resume as the No. 1 overall seed.
Duke, Notre Dame and Virginia follow in the ACC-heavy top five.
Risers this week include Denver, which is up to No. 7 after a close win against Villanova. The Wildcats are up to No. 12 following that OT loss and a one-sided victory against Lehigh. Loyola and Vermont are back in the Top 20.
