Syracuse earned perhaps the biggest regular season win of the Gary Gait era, and they crept up to No. 4 in this week’s KANE Men’s DI Media Poll.

The Orange were feisty in their decisive win against Notre Dame, and at 9-2 have a big-time game ahead of them: They play No. 1 Cornell on Long Island as part of the Corrigan Sports College Lacrosse Live Series.

The Big Red took most of the first-place votes ahead of No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Princeton. Army, winner against Colgate, is up to No. 5, while Maryland fell to sixth after losing to Rutgers.

The Scarlet Knights are the big riser of the weekend. They were receiving votes but leapt up to No. 18 after taking down the Terps for the first time since 1980.

Check out the full KANE Men's DI Media Poll here.

1Cornell (9 - 1)478 (22)1
2Ohio State (11 - 1)444 (1)3
3Princeton (8 - 2)441 (1)4
4Syracuse (9 - 2)3877
5Army (9 - 1)3766

4) Syracuse
11,000 fans in the Dome feasted on Dome dogs while the Orange took care of Notre Dame, pulling away 14-9 despite clearing just 19-of-28. Offensive coordinator Pat March leaned heavily on the picking game, isolating Joey Spallina’s defender, Shawn Lyght, in difficult spots. Spallina was masterful off-ball. FOGO Johnny Mullen won the day, and midfielder Sam English continues to be the ultimate Swiss Army knife. SSDM Carter Rice remains one of the most underrated players in the country.

Now sitting at (9-2) with serious momentum, the swag kings head to Long Island to face Cornell. Joey Spallina and company are going back home. This one’s going to be epic.

Maybe I am missing something but Harvard absolutely dusted Dartmouth this past Sat and they fall back a spot to #13? The hell?
Meanwhile GTown needed double OT to beat Marquette.

Rutgers and OSU are the hottest teams in the Big 10, as everyone predicted!

Their best win is Syracuse?

This has to be the most wide open rankings I can remember. I feel like you can shuffle the top 10 teams around like a deck of cards each week. Also, there are a few in the 11-20 range who can legitimately pull upsets like Richmond, Michigan, Rutgers. If I were to pick teams I consider to be on a roll right now, it would be OSU, Cuse and UNC. I'm not sold on Cornell but we will get that answer soon!

4. Syracuse (9-2)

The Orange have now won six-straight games, a run of success that, I’ll admit, snuck up on me. Their month of huge tilts hits another crescendo as they head to Long Island to take on the No. 1 team in the land. If last year’s Cornell-Notre Dame game was an indication, the environment is going to be insane and, if that game and last year’s Syracuse-Cornell game is any indication, the action on the field is going to be insane, as well.

Reason for Optimism: They’ve learned how to win. I thought the way they grinded out the end of the Virginia game was indicative of a team that’s even more mature than last year’s group (which was more mature than the team in 2023), and the way they responded to Notre Dame’s counterpunches when they cut the Orange lead to three goals in the late third and early fourth quarters was even more evidence of a team that’s learning how to win in important ways.
