Northwestern received all 25 first-place votes in Week 1 of the ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll after earning its first win over Syracuse in Evanston on Saturday. Erin Coykendall led the Wildcats with a whopping eight points. Boston College followed at No. 2 slot following a convincing victory over UMass on Friday afternoon, winning 20-9.

James Madison jumped into the third slot after a thrilling win over North Carolina in overtime, where senior attacker Katelyn Morgan notched the game-winner and sophomore Maddie Epke totaled seven goals and an assist to fuel the Dukes.

Denver and Syracuse round out the Top 5, entering Week 2 in the No. 4 and No. 5 slots, respectively.

4. Syracuse A rough first 15 minutes of the season for the Orange turned into a lot of promise in the following 45. Syracuse was a bit chaotic going up against Northwestern to start but clawed their way back against a team that doesn’t really allow for that, in large part due to the steady play from Olivia Adamson and Natalie Smith, along with key in-game adjustments from Kayla Treanor's coaching staff.
