If last week represented madness in the KANE Men’s DI Media Poll, this week has a sense of calm.

The top four teams remain the same — and they are still all receiving at least one first-place vote — and every team in the Top 10 stayed in the Top 10. Check out the full KANE Men's DI Media Poll here.

Michigan is making a huge surge. After back-to-back Big Ten wins toppling Maryland then Johns Hopkins, the Wolverines are up to No. 13 in the Week 8 poll. UMass is another team who proved it this week, going from unranked to No. 16 after beating Saint Joseph’s.

Cornell is still the top dog, and the Big Red handled Penn with ease. Maryland bounced back to stay at No. 2, and Ohio State took care of Rutgers. Princeton beat a Dartmouth team that continues to prove itself.

Notre Dame is back in the Top 5, doubling up Duke this weekend.

Army earned its signature win, beating North Carolina, 13-12, and the Black Knights moved up to No. 6 with an 8-1 record.

6) Syracuse

The Orange (8-2) erased a 5-1 first quarter deficit and closed the game on a 3-0 run to earn a gutsy 12-10 road win over Virginia. It was an impressive response to early adversity, and while Syracuse isn’t playing perfect lacrosse yet, they’re showing signs of growth and resilience. There are still several areas in need of cleanup, particularly around situational execution, but they’re trending in the right direction. Sam English continues to be one of the most versatile players in the country, evoking shades of Matt Abbott. Owen Hiltz was clutch, and goalie Jimmy McCool delivered a poised, sharp performance in a tough road setting.

Syracuse ranks in the top ten in both scoring offense and defense, and their turnover margin is elite. The Orange welcome Notre Dame to the Dome on Saturday afternoon in a marquee ACC showdown on the ACC Network. Joey Spallina enters averaging 3.5 assists per game. This rivalry never disappoints.

It has certainly disappointed me for the last 5 or 6 years. ;)

My thought exactly, not sure which games Quint has watched the past 5 years because outside of last season this match-up has been a nightmare for the Orange.
Trying to give Q the benefit of the doubt, I'm thinking it might be leftover from an earlier version of his Syracuse post/recap and was referring to SU-UVa, which was never proofread and deleted.

Otherwise, yikes! Do your homework!

Yikes is right. It started in 2019 when we played them at ND and had one of the worst 1st halfs I've ever seen Cuse play - followed by a futile comeback which masked how horrible that first half was. 2021 and onwards has been a nightmare. I could add up the aggregate scores but that would be cruel. Even last year, we were down 13-7 after the 3rd qtr before we scored a few.

Not that I remember the pain or anything

I love how Fairfield hangs in at 19. They haven't beaten one team in the top 20 and will continue to have a less than challenging schedule - Delaware, Hofstra, Towson, Monmouth.
It's a nice story which the league likes to spin - I get it.

I believe your right, think he was referring to the UVA game, at least I hope so.

Besides syracuse pulling out a win vs ND this weekend (very tall task as they seem to have o ur number). It would be very nice for colgate, hopkins and even uva to get dubs this weekend. I think cuse def has shot vs duke n unc but cornell and Nd are little bit of concerned. Anything’s possible but cuse def needs to step up their play in all areas more n more each week. It can be done. Come on orange !

New SU rallying cry for ND game and beyond: Sixty Minute Game!!

7. Syracuse (8-2)
A 12-10 victory against Virginia didn’t have the scoreline you’d expect from the historically electric matchup, but it did have a bit of a “we don’t know what’s going to happen” mystique.

What happened is Syracuse’s zone defense is awesome, and Virginia just couldn’t get an inch.

They have the fourth-best adjusted defensive efficiency. Gary Gait deserves more praise than he’s gotten for the hire of John Odierna. Odierna cut his teeth at Manhattan, and anyone who paid attention could see he was doing special things. He’s taken that to the next level and should be looked at as one of the great defensive minds in the sport.

Terry really is not a cuse fan ehhh lol...Always has us ranked lower in his voting every week. Matt and Kevin have been pretty consistent with their voting across the board for all teams...

He has some weird rationale why SU is where it's at that involved Harvard or some other nonsense. Whether you think this SU squad is a top 7 team or not is certainly debatable, but 13th, please...

Honestly think he’s more just waiting for them to prove him wrong. They have huge chance this weekend to do so by beating ND. A win will certainly go long ways but atleast a good battle be great also. But they def have potential to win if they play like they can for 60mins.

Will not give him too much crap since it is still a pretty wide open year, but Georgetown above us is completely delusional. 3 losses, no wins against teams with an above .500 record, and our one mutual opponent was Hop, who they lost to and we beat. Absolutely zero reason for them to be above us.

He's acting like he's ticked off for voting us #2 preseason and punishing us for not living up to his vote.

He does not make sense at all. Georgetown’s RPI is 30th! Their resume is garbage, and the only way they get in is by winning the big east.

Of teams outside the top 13, only Hopkins can say that if they win out they are guaranteed an at large spot in the tournament. (Dartmouth, and maybe BU could make at large arguments too if they won out and things broke right, but only Hop controls their destiny. Georgetown is not in that group.

Not much difference between the resumes between #1 Cornell and #11 Harvard. Except for the colgate loss , their resumes look very similar. As a matter of fact, Harvard has the #5 RPI and Cornell is #8, so I’m not sure why all the love for Cornell at #1 In the rankings.

I know we have a chance to make some noise (ND, Cornell, UNC, Duke, ACCT), but 1-2 vs.Top 20 is...not great in terms of NCAAT selection.
Agree. We know the record to date is not enough. It's up to the team to use the strength of the opponents in the remaining 4 games to capture an NCAA Tournament spot & even a top 8 seed and home game. An ACC Tournament win would help also.

I imagine that Hopkins and UVA will be underdogs in their remaining schedules. Will them losing, but playing high quality opponents (mostly Big 10 or ACC teams) the rest of the way help or hurt SUs resume?
