Late in the game, 3rd and 1 around the ND 40?. One man backfield (Moore), handoff directly up the middle from the pistol, with no forward momemtum from the RB and no time to make a cut either. Stopped for no gain. Excellent spot there for a play action and a pop pass to the TE or a rollout. You are losing, you need a big play! Be bold! IMO, the play caller has no sense of context or strategy.
Then on 4th down we line up in an obvious qb sneak formation, with Hunt's left foot 18" behind his right foot taking the snap. The RB (Gulley!) was so close to the QB he couldn't have taken a handoff anyway. Then we take our time and let ND get dug in, and sneak it for no gain. No imagination, poor execution.
The game was over but still, we hadn't quit, we were trying to score. That sequence was quite frustrating. I'm hoping the OC can grow into the role but right now he seems to be one of those that doesn't think on his feet well.
