Poor Stanitzek

Nate Mink does some good stuff but this wasn't an example of it.

Seemed like he was so impressed that he scored an interview with Thug Sr. that he essentially gave Thug a pass and even turned him into the victim.

Not a good piece.

I could care less about revenge. We need a convincing victory on Saturday. If we embark on revenge we will lose again.

What bothers me is that he claims it wasn't intentional. Maybe the result was not intentional (only he knows that), but the action of taking a free shot at a defenseless Dungey clearly was. He is lucky that the result want worse, because it could have paralyzed him, or worse

Yeah, put me in the camp that really isn't interested in the struggles faced by the Stanitzek family as a result of the kid's cheap shot that nearly ended a promising young football career.

If the CMU writers (assuming they have some) want to write that puff piece, so be it. I don't think that it should be on syracuse.com's agenda.

But that's just me.

I wish he had asked the family their thoughts regarding Eric Dungey and his well being. The thug kid should have been asked if he felt any remorse or regret for the cheap shot he took.

The perspective the article was written from was that of a good family unjustifiably given a bad name. The replay clearly shows him target the head and intentionally deliver a blow to the head, with Eric helpless to escape because his legs were already firmly in the grasp of another defender.

That kid is very lucky he isn't in jail.

Holy crap make sure everyone reads the comments section over there. This writer is bending over backwards defending the indefensible with the Stanitek hit. Wow.

aww poor baby was so hard on him and his family. Barely a mention of Dungy.

2 years after vicious hit on Eric Dungey, Syracuse, Central Michigan ready to move on

Is it just me or Fluck him. I'm sticking with the summation at the end of this post:

Not worried...yet

I hope they beat the crap out of him (cleanly and fairly). Screw him. Beat CMU and him up big time.

Agreed!

That is the worst hit I think I have ever seen on the college level.

It was intentional and outrageous.

Sorry, but I have no sympathy for the guy - he should have been suspended for six games.

You can't reciprocate for every wrong done to you on the field but I feel like this kid went above and beyond in trying to injure Dungy. He singled himself out with his actions. Hope he enjoys the game this weekend, there might not be anything special planned for him but we all know his number and opportunity will come knocking.

like x1000. "Turnabout is Fair Play" is an old English saying. Let's see if it applies on Saturday. Legal Hits, of course.

well - after reading that article and then the dopey comments he adds to it, I now consider Nate Mink a complete doosh - hopefully he's not invited to do any chats on this site any time soon - maybe the Chippewa fans can have chats with him

Nope...violent game,violent hits....paybacks are needed.

Fans here seem to forget during that hit the other player was twisting Dungey's lower leg,so taking him out was the game plan. When they decided, who knows

CMU should have canceled this game if you want my opinion.

I just hope Stanitzek doesn't try to retaliate against any SU players for all the problems his dirty play caused him. Can you imagine the trauma it would cause him if he cheap shots and hurts more Syracuse players?
Is it too late to create a nice "Welcome Stanitzek" banner?

A gif sequence of what I'm hoping for tomorrow, as I gas up my car to head north. Guess which guy is Stanitzek?

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I hope he gets what's coming to him tomorrow. Clean if possible. Dirty just as good.

Holy cow, I just read the comments section. Is Mink trying to get a job as the kid's agent?? Unreal, his snide and condescending remarks defending the hit , bringing up alleged dirty hits by former SU players, is idiotic. What an a-hole. Usually the comments on that site deserve to be mocked but most of them are actually legit and intelligent, and Mink was having none of it.

It's funny how he jumps in to defend Stanitek over and over, then conveniently doesn't respond to the photo of Dungey being tackled, the ball well out of his hand, and Stanitek is about five yards away and hasn't even started getting ready to light him up. That is absolutely not "just a young kid excited to get a hit on the QB" as he says. I'm sure he is also a Joe Pa defender.
