Positive thread

My positives, in addition to the youth movement and the return of our Guardian Angeli, is that our O line has to improve next year. Our bug uglies are certainly big (and I won’t comment on how handsome they are), but agility and communication do not appear to be their strong suit. Next year I’m hopeful they will be better.

Real positives
Much better special team this year. Breakdown against Pitt was unfortunate. Some poor decisions on returns hurt field position. Honestly kicking has been great. Samuel looks like a good punt returner, hope he stays there
Three young defenders in Samuel, Antoine D. , and Tremble are solid building blocks. Priority one this off-season is to retain these three.
The offense was fine until the starting quarterback got hurt on a non contact play. Had solid balance of run and pass before Angeli went down.

That the best I have right now.

That’s kind of how I feel. These players are developing even if the results don’t always make it look that way on the field. We just don’t have a QB to showcase it. The development piece should still appeal to recruits and once we have all the pieces again the results will be seen on the field again.
I don't feel it is a QB issue.

Tremble, Peal, the 3 freshman Canadians all played and have done well. I liked the combo of Cruz and Byron at Center and RG.
I do too... I think there working out ok. I saw alot of great blocking early with UNC, but there were some really bad snaps to Fielardi... Most of them low. He compensated fairly well. I think he is a going to be a great QB in y2+

The team would be fine if Angeli didn't get hurt. It's that simple. Sure it papers over huge cracks but the team would likely be bowl bound.
I tend to agree.. he would have been able to fill some cracks, but in the end his absence has show the cracks in our team, play calling, and adaptability.

There is no sugarcoating how bad it has been. I honestly think the only positive is the season is close to being over and we can focus on next year. None of us have any expectations at this point, so maybe we will see a few nice plays and possibly a win over BC.

In this new world of transfers and NIL, we are never going to have a good backup. I don't blame any kid. Go where you can play.

It is a big waste of time when the starter gets hurt. Maybe it reveals that coaches are bad at run schemes or developing lax players. But none of it matters.

IMO, HCFB and his assistants are doing their level best to turn our program around, for the good!

Yes, they made mistakes; yes they are learning, on the job. However they are recruiting for their needs, and yes, HCFB IS taking responsibility for their miscues. What else to people want?

I’m positive that we will lose our last 3 games
Ok, so bad karma on this, but I do feel we will loose at least 1-2 of them. If we loose the last to BC the negativity on that would be affirmed at this point.

I do agree on this when it comes from Fran, but the unders are not showing it. Just talking about it.And we all know it is about leadership. Leadership will shine down, and adjust. It can't be just the players on this. Anyhow I am positive it will turn around, but we all need to see that too.

Looking ahead to Syracuse football in 2026, I’m genuinely optimistic about the direction this program is heading. One of the biggest positives is that I believe we’ll retain our core players from this season. Having that foundation in place is crucial, because these experienced guys will provide leadership and stability while helping integrate new talent.Speaking of talent, the 2026 recruiting class is absolutely loaded. We’re bringing in high-level players who have the potential to change this program for the better, and the depth they add will be a huge boost. After seeing some of the true freshmen get significant playing time this year — guys like Samuels, Antoine, Tremble(true sophomore), and Bryon — it’s clear that this team is getting younger, stronger, and more experienced. That experience will pay dividends next year, especially as we continue to develop depth across key positions. The offensive line also looks poised for improvement. With several highly-rated tackles reportedly coming in, I expect the line to be stronger and more consistent, which will benefit both the run and pass game. A better offensive line will allow our quarterbacks and skill players to operate with more confidence and open up more opportunities for big plays. On the quarterback front, I have faith that Fran will bring in a transfer quarterback with more than three years of eligibility who can immediately compete with Steve for the starting position. There’s been talk about the North Texas QB, and if he comes in, he could be a key piece in pushing this offense forward. Competition at quarterback should only make the starter better and give Syracuse a legitimate chance to take the next step offensively. With experienced core players, young talent gaining real playing time, and a loaded recruiting class, 2026 is shaping up to be a year where Syracuse could take a major step forward. This offseason is going to be exciting, and I can’t wait to see how all the new pieces fit together on the field.

We will be back in the hunt next season. Team will retain most of the kids it wants to stay. I fully expect us to add a QB in January as well as an Edge. 39 is going to make waves next year at RB and will be a nice change of pace to Willis. WR room is solid. Lots of youth on the D side. Need an edge some inside beef and a baller at LB.
In order
QB
Edge
LB

The North Texas QB is not coming here. He is on everyone’s radar

I would love to see Angeli get a shot at GT’s pass defense. They were helpless against the pass last night against NCS. McCord ripped them apart last year. They were exposed last night. Extremely overrated. Duke is the most fun team to watch. Their QB was worth the money.
