Post-Standard Syracuse Football All-Decade Team

I wouldn’t have Neal or Franklin. Cordy no way. Need two CBs how can you have 4 safeties? And 3 Ts?

No Holmes? Eskridge? Smith and Hogue? Bennett? Davis? PTG or Smith? Reddish, Lyn, Anderson? Fredrick? Trudo? AET was here one year does That overtake Erv?

Cordy was the one pick I disagreed with the most. To me, he had as many negative plays as positive ones. Also, the strongest memory I have of him is his not being on the field most of his time at SU because of injury.

My overall thought on the list is "Wow, slim pickings for a decade."

For me, Jerome over Neal. Surprised they had Neal as the #1 back and Carter as the #2?

Reddish and Frederick over Cordy and pick one of the other safeties not named Shamarko. Should have 2 corners and 2 safeties.

Probably splitting hairs on anything else, unless you don't like having 3 tackles. Could replace Conway with Trudo.

Reddish definitely should have been there. I would have made a strong argument for Doug Hogue as well but I can see why the picks they have make sense. Hogue only playing LB for 2 years hurt him here I think but he was amazing for those two years.

Weren't some of those guys the previous decade? If Hogue was this decade he definitely should have been one of the LBs.

I liked Lynch and Franklin but they shouldn’t have been the selections. They were decent LBs but weren’t studs.

Bennett was clearly the best LB on the team his JR & SR year. Franklin was great off the field but he wasn’t as good as Bennett on the field.

Hogue belongs in the team he was a beast. Smith should be in over those two as well.

If you look at the stats and all conference selections it makes you scratch your head.

They only played one year in the decade but that one year was a hell of a year. If you take AET for one year why not those guys?

Agreed on Hogue and Trudo.
Would love to see them on the current team...

I think this list shows how recently some of these guys began covering the team. There are players missing that they clearly know nothing about.
In fairness to Bailey, he's been either an SU student or covering the team since at least 2011.

Doesn't the stat that they use for Sean Riley speak more to how many scores we have given up than it does to kick returning ability?

Holmes was a better returner. But most of his work was pre 2010s.

Who was it under GRob that put up a bunch of kick return yards basically because we sucked? I think he was a safety.
