Tim Lester said Long missed a couple handoffs and coverage reads in the second half. Was seeing them a lot better in practice.

Lester on Long: "He just needs to continue to make better decisions for the whole game."

Lester said last-minute coverage "spins" threw Long off at times. Not uncommon for a true frosh QB.

Lester said the staff learned that Miller couldn't start right before the game. Was available in an emergency capacity.

Lester said fill-in C Jason Emerich only made one clear mistake in the game. Made two in about a quarter against FSU.

Shafer: "A good victory under the circumstances of where we are with our personnel."

Shafer on holding WFU under 100 yards running and passing: "We felt like we needed to because we felt like we could."

Shafer on freshman WR Steve Ishmael: "If I was playing quarterback, I'd throw it up to him all the time."

Shafer on Prince-Tyson Gulley's adventure catching punts: "Yeah, we're gonna talk about that when we get home."

Devante McFarlane's 11 touches were four more than he had in the whole first half of the season.

Steve Ishmael and Jarrod West were Long's most targeted receivers. Ishmael caught 6-of-7 targets, West caught 5-of-7.
