Potential 2025-26 Roster

Bell: What do they say the definition of insanity is. Doing the same thing and expecting different results.
My sense is Chris needs a fresh start. He has a very valuable gift. He can shoot and he has the height to get it off. I think a new start will help him. Hopefully he focuses on being happy.

Choppa isn't going to make a difference next year. If he wants to leave so, be it. Spend the money on a real baller. What I do like about him is he cares. The Kid played hard. Hopefully he does well at his new home.

Chance caught a terrible life break. Two massive injuries plus something else that didn't help. Again, get a fresh start at a school that can provide him with a great degree as i doubt he makes much playing bball.

How do you guys feel about a portal coach? Autry keeps the seat and we have a portal hire for one season do the real coaching .

I would LOL, but this isn't really a joke.

What does this staff have to sell right now to recruits? Lets hear the pitch…

That's why I think we have to bring Melo and some of the legends to practice, and get them up here in the summer to work with some of these kids.

The only way I see Freeman coming back is if Melo called him and said, "Get your ass back on campus. Imma work with you all summer and teach you what it takes to be a pro."

With Boeheim's Army "a thing" again, and guys being up here this summer, it's really an "all hands on deck" kind of situation. Red needs everybody helping, every bit of star power and instruction that he can muster. It will be his team, for better or worse, once practice starts. This could be what saves his job,

I'm serious. The only way Red keeps Donnie and draws any decent talent is to bring back the alumni for informal summer camp. Otherwise what does he have to sell? I'm on a hot seat, and I have a big wad of cash to spend?
If you’re a guy with one year of eligibility remaining, does it really matter? If SU will pay what you want, and Red can convince a guy that they’re going to be a tourney team, then who cares how hot his seat is?

I could see it being a tough sell to guys with more than 1 year left. But if someone wants to cash in, and has a year left, why not?

I like Bell and think he could be a piece of the puzzle next year. He seemed to calm down a lot once he started coming off the bench.

He is a smart kid and is in the Maxwell School. He may want that Maxwell degree for his life after basketball, so, like you I am just conjecturing, he could conceivably want to stay.

Some posters have claimed that he has a bad attitude but I have never seen it. He clearly gets frustrated with himself when his shots aren’t falling, but we had a couple of guys on last years team with seriously bad attitudes and Chris isn’t even on the same planet as them.

Now, we all know his weaknesses. He is a poor rebounder and a poor defender and that is not likely to change at this point in his career. He does hustle back and gets those occasional blocked shots, so he isn’t dogging it on the court. He has been a spark off the bench and opponents have to account for him. Defenders don’t sag off of him and that helps open up the court for others.

Chris has to know that he wouldn’t start and his NIL$ would drop, but if he wants to return and the GM can find a place for him with the extra schollies next year, I’m fine with that. If Red wants a complete overhaul or if Chris wants to make a new start for himself, well, that is a whole different matter and I wish him well.
He was working with a therapist, and they came to the conclusion he is better off the bench for anxiety reasons. That was talked about a lot at the time. Hopefully he comes back and finished that Maxwell degree. Nothing out there like that degree.

You want to go some place where they will make you a better player. We appear to not really have a legitimate answer to that question right now.

Good for Chris to get help. I had hoped that he would. If staying is the best thing for him then I hope he stays and has a great next year.

Is White not a starter? I assumed he was. If not... whoaaa boyyy, things get hairy fast.
Does anyone know if Red promised Sadiq White he would start?

If Red really wants to keep his job, and I think he does, he should retain Freeman and start Freeman at PF with White off the bench playing good minutes. White is defense and dunks right now.

Then 4 new starters from the portal. None of our freshmen start but White gets significant minutes, Kiyan and Fennel get decent minutes, and Womack practices.

I believe he gave a radio interview at one point that they could both be on the court at same time.

I'm fine with them getting court time together, but this season is do or die for Red, so I would think he wants a very good SF who can shoot 3s to start and then mix in Sadiq off the bench, including some rotations where he and Donnie are both playing.

I'm sure they could both play together, but not for more than 10-15 minutes. You have to mix in rim protection, low post offense and more rebounding. I'm sure they both can give us some of those things, but not enough without more help.
