Potential FCS opponent for SU

Colgate 50% of the time
Villanova, Georgetown, Albany, Stony Brook, and UConn fill in the rest of the time.

Sorry, but I'm out of the Villanova business after this year.

I also don't want to be in the Georgetown business. If they ever pulled a Villanova, but hit that FG, I'd have to say goodbye to this cruel world.

The insecure person that I am, I'd prefer the FCS school be a name we don't recognize, in a state we don't both belong to. Schedule on...

Nova and Stony Brook are too good. We need a couple FCS teams we can beat 50-7. Then find 2 FBS teams that absolutely stink. Then we can can go 4-0 in OOC and need to find just 2-3 wins in conference to get a bowl game. Let's get off the tough schedules and face reality.

Let's just schedule UMass. They are harmless. We can play them in Foxboro, and we get an FBS win out of it.

They actually have a decent offense this year and should have beaten Colorado and Vandy. Wagner and Colgate are my two choices, theres zero chance of them beating Syracuse.

agreed, but we only want to schedule 1 FCS per year since only 1 counts toward bowl eligibility. here is my perfect OOC schedule:

1 FCS team: horrible one like Colgate or Wagner
1 FBS cupcake from Florida/Georgia area: FIU, FAU etc (we play USF next year, close enough)
1 FBS cupcake from the Midwest: Mediocre or bad MAC team (like Central Mich)
1 Power Five team that we can beat: Kansas, Illinois, Purdue, Colorado etc

Our next chance to do this is 2018. We already have LSU next year, ND in 2016 and LSU in 2017. 2018 is wide open. Please, Doc Gross and Herm, do as I say!

Yeah, actually, we should keep going to that Wagner well. 50 to 0 while the players get their feet wet is the entire goal of this game. It's not about sparking some slight amount of interest in an FCS opponent because of their name.

Let's just renew the Colgate series to start every year. Why play, Stony Brook, Wagner or Monmouth?
I like that for an FCS. Keep RU/UConn/Army/Buffalo/USF on a rotation for a regional-ish/recruiting home and home or 2-for-1. Do a directional Michigan/MAC team. And one bigger name school. Simple, easy, not much to think about.

I regret starting this thread. It immediately devolved into "we should play Army/FIU/FAU/Colgate, blah blah blah." My least favorite type of thread.

but what if we play the armys, the florida letter teams, the colgates...in our all blue fancy nancy unis??

that would be cool...

We should play Army every year, with our training with the 10th Mountain Division, invite the troops and become the Nations team.

Start with Colgate, then Army then a lousy Power Five team, then a decent Power 5 team, then the conference schedule.

might as well play the rest of the Yankee Conference: Maine, NH, CT, Vt

I'd love to play Vermont.

They dropped football 40 years ago.

Don't we have Penn St. in 2018, or were those years voided? Probably doesn't matter much though because I expect that in 2-3 years we'll see the conference schedules go to 9 games.
