Florida will now allow schools to participate in NIL discussions/agreements, etc..

Could be interesting…

I don’t really understand this law. Can’t the NCAA punish the coaches for breaking the rules?

so schools sign on with rules and the state can say no we make our own rules.. whats to stop states from doing the same thing for the MLB/NFL? sorry no salary cap we decided you dont need one.

Collective bargaining of the players and mlb/nfl/nba are all private leagues not supported by the government. Excluding arenas of course

so what is to stop a state from ignoring all of that with a law?

Can't do NFL because Congress has already decided on that. Congress trumps state, state trumps NCAA.

This is going to get ugly especially if taxpayer money is somehow used in an NIL deal.
I look forward to the hypocrisy by people when they argue it’s fine because it benefits their sports team / State U…

New state laws adopted in Arkansas, Missouri, Texas and Oklahoma clear a path for their schools to bring NIL programs more under their proverbial roof while also prohibiting enforcement from the NCAA and others. This new evolution of NIL collectives tests NCAA and SEC governorship, risks federal rules violations and, maybe most important, pushes college sports another step closer to what many believe is an eventuality: Schools paying athletes directly.

I thought this was an interesting article. It's only a matter of time until we just let the schools start paying players directly.

What a mess

Not sure if this has been posted anywhere on the site.
Syracuse played a big role in writing the order final NYS NIL law. This sounds like Probation Pitino is pushing for this change.

Let’s face it, you have to break a lot of NCAA rules to convince good players to serve time on the St John’s campus.
