Today was the third practice I attended this year, and, in my opinion, it was very different from the first two. JB was much more directly involved. Rather than intently observing ..and making suggestions (e.g., substitutions) as the assistants were coaching teams in the scrimmage, he was directly running the scrimmage, in the most animated way. I guess the real season is about to start

The most interesting thing to me today may be of no interest to anyone else, but I loved it. There is a 90-year-old nun from the Rochester area who loves SU basketball and JB, and she has been his penpal for several years (they had never met). He has invited her to practice, but she never attended until today. She arrived in a wheelchair, accompanied by some other members of her Order.

He spent so much much time with her before practice started, answering questions, posing for pictures and signing things. Then, during practice, whenever she waved at him, he smiled and waved back. For those who have never been at practice, this may not sound like much...but, trust me, no one ever makes small talk or interferes with his focus during practice. It was so lovely how much attention he gave her. There were no media or cameras there. He was not doing this as a "photo op.". He was doing it to create what a 90-year-old Nun pronounced "the best day of my life."

And for those who may be wondering, JB is not Roman Catholic.

Great story. There was an article a few years ago in the Post Standard about a Franciscan nun on Court Street who was a rabid fan. She was in her 80's I think and they had a picture of her wearing her SU garb during games.

Better than the day she married Jesus of Nazareth. . . maybe just maybe JB really stands for Jesus of Basketball

I hope she was not really a spy from Cornell sent in to disrupt JB's focus during practice. :)

M good friend Scott W. was there also. Don't know if you know him.

Does Julie know about this woman and JB's attraction? Trust me, nuns are a hard habit to break...

this reminds me of the time i used to drive a cab and i picked up a nun. i told her i dont wanna offend you but its always been my fantasy to get a blow job from a nun. she was a little shocked at first but told me when youve been a nun as long as she has youve pretty much heard it all. then she told me she would do it under 2 conditions: i had to be single and catholic. i told her i was so i pulled over and she proceeded to do the deed. once we got back on the road i felt incredibly guilty and told her the truth that i was married and jewish. she said "dont worry about it, my name is tim and im going to a halloween party."

You should ride out into the sunset, cause no one will ever match this, my friend.

Is this the nun that he prayed to in order to get Julie? I kid I kid......

That's awesome. It's both good and bad word will never get out, since it means talking heads will continue to call JB a curmudgeon when he doesn't want to answer a question.

JB is always going to be a curmudgeon - but he still does a ton of great work both publicly and privately. I think the media knows that too.

It doesnt mean he wont get extra testy when he thinks a reporter crosses him.
