To keep things interesting before we get into win/loss predictions, and in light of the other thread speculating about huge season attendance numbers, let's have some predictions.

Do we take #1 back from Kentucky?
Can we draw 30,000 more than three times (hasn't happened since Billy Owens was in school)?
What will our season average be?

I'll get it started:

Yes.

No.

24,361.

Definitely 30K plus for Duke, North Carolina, and Nova. Hopefully Indiana too.

Bueller?

Come on, we must have more folks who want to get in on the predictions.

I've got Duke and Pittsburgh and Carolina for 30+. Would be interesting to see if either of Nova or Indiana (or any of the other ACC teams) makes it close. History indicates it's unlikely - only two December Dome games have ever drawn 30. And neither was a mid-week game. Maybe the ticket packages will help sell some seats in December, too.

I'll consider it a testament to the drawing power of UNC when and if they do get 30 in the house. Not December, but it's been equally uncommon to get that kind of crowd for any game during Christmas break. Hasn't happened since 1991, against Villanova (incidentally, that was the last season we got 30 for a December game, against Temple).

I didn't feel compelled to respond because frankly, you nailed it.

I agree with you on all counts. I will say 24,111 to switch the numbers around a bit.

Personally I would say Duke and NC to be over 30K. I think Nova would be a stretch due to now being a non conference game. However, hopefully a lot of others will think as I do that the Wildcats have always played us tough in the Dome and should be another great matchup.

I also think the Indiana game is one of the more intriguing on the home schedule. Being a Tuesday game and a non conference foe it's hard to say if the crowd will reach 30K. I'm thinking not, unfortunately.

Nova is over a school break. So is UNC, those don't help
I hate those school break games! No band playing, no cheer leaders (although, on the positive side) that means no pre-programmed static cheers), no students. It sucks that will happen for the Carolina game!

Obviously, we get over 30,000 for Duke and UNC (school break be damned, it's Carolina!), but I can't see it for any other game. What I am hoping for is consistent high 20's for these ACC games. I've been disappointed the last few years when we've had great teams, but fewer people attending.

I bet Pitt breaks 30k.

Yes

Yes

Yes

don't forget with single game tickets gone for Duke people may buy season passes, which will only increase our attendance per game.

a couple 35k games with some others hovering around 30k will be huge.

let's call it what it is. tickets sold. not butts in the seats. perhaps a more accurate gauge might be a clicker on the turnstile counting people leaving after the final horn. syracuse is notorious for early aisle exits.

Have you ever read the book Loose Balls? It was about the ABA. Apparently one owner did hook up an attendance counter to the turnstile. I think he even hooked it up to a screen so fans could see the attenadance. Because of low turnout, he ended up cranking the turnstile himself to boost the numbers. Not that we would ever try that.
