Preseason USA Today Coaches Poll

Yeah - you were saying "as currently constituted" and I was saying "things change in the future" ... Two different arguments.

But yeah I know your position and hope you get to eat a pile of crow ;).
I was talking about the current state of the program throughout this entire thread. If we got an upgrade at coaching of coursr I agree with everything you have said.

I would love to eat crow but doubt I will have to sadly.

Currently lower paid coach implies not the best HC we could have leading the program. We hired a prospect not a finished product. The prospect over known quality costs less. If you believe the prospect will develop into something that is your right but Cusian already knows how I feel.
What is the "WHY" of the matter? Syracuse was in a downtrodden football conference, little extra money coming in. Budget constraints have been an issue in the past. Now, with the influx of increased revenues, Syracuse has money to work with. You are correct, Marrone and Shafer were both prospects (as well, so was GRob, PP, and to some extent DMac).

Let's be honest with ourselves, Shafer is an excellent Defensive coach, so half of the equation is solved. He had a successful first season after losing the whole coaching staff. The second season was lost on several factors, rehashed ad nauseum on this board. This season, we have a new OC, simplified offense, better recruits, deeper bench, etc. the prospect that is Shafer may very well pay off. Besides, if Shafer starts winning he will get increases in pay, as will his staff.

Yep. You've written them off and I give them an incomplete. But either way, I feel better with Coyle than Gross. And chancellor too. And ACC vs BE too.

That's a losing argument with him. He hopes they tank to expedite a new staff asap.

I don't want them to tank. Why would I continue with season tickets if I want them to lose. This is what I am talking about. This staff needs an offense to look like a college offense now.

I need to see it to believe it, but yeah take my position and throw it out of whack.

Keeping Hunt healthy is paramount. His running ability will be so crucial for the offense. I don't have much faith in the OT's so mobility will be needed often.

I'll always be optimistic about SU. Hey Hunt, don't get thrown out of Game 1 again.
