It isn’t very optimistic.

Thoughts/Analysis on the ACC heading into 2025-26

Agree with Rooster that Phelia is starting at PG. She was first team all Big Ten in 2023 but transferred to Texas, where she suffered a detached retina and barely was able to play. It was a lost season for her but she has the potential to be an all conference player for us.

I think the team will be built around Phelia and Burrows.

I think Uche is going to be the starter at center. Hard to know how good she is after playing in Japan the past two years, but she put up great stats there. I think one of the keys to the season is going to be her and whether she can contribute immediately. If she can score q0 ppl, rebound and play decent defense, it will help a lot. If she isn’t ready, the position will be filled by Akinbolawa, who looks like a defensive specialist type.

I think Potts is going to be a reliable outside shooter and a big contributor. Hawkins, Scott and Cooper are all talented and at least one needs to step up and be a strong piece of the team. Thompson and Almon will split time at PF and contribute defense and rebounding. Sometimes we will play 2 small forwards.

I really like Nelson and think she might surprise as a true frosh. It should be an interesting season.

If we are being completely honest and unbiased here. I’m not very optimistic about our team either lol. If I’m being truthful I think we have a bottom 5 ACC roster. Before Pheila transferred in, I thought it was bottom 2. Our talent has dropped immensely the last few years. Which I’m surprised about with FLJ as coach. I think winning 10 games might be a struggle this year. And hate to say it, not this season but the following season I can see her squarely on the hot seat
