Even though no Cuse, a buddy and I are going to either the afternoon or evening session in Providence tomorrow.
Anyone have restaurant recommendations or anything else to do before or in between sessions?
Thank youu
I echo Vorony's recommendation of Hemenway's. Fabulous dining experience.Even though no Cuse, a buddy and I are going to either the afternoon or evening session in Providence tomorrow.

Federal Hill for Itailian, really like Andio's or Cassarino's. Probably like a 10-15 min walk from the arena. Los Andes is good Peruvian but you will need to drive there (prob like 5-10 min drive).Even though no Cuse, a buddy and I are going to either the afternoon or evening session in Providence tomorrow.

The most renowned restaurant in pvd is likely al forno. But is 1-2 miles from federal hill (and you can barely go wrong on federal hill).Even though no Cuse, a buddy and I are going to either the afternoon or evening session in Providence tomorrow.

Xaco Taco is quite good. I don’t know Providence geography very well, but there a great bar called West Side that also has awesome food. The most renowned restaurant in pvd is likely al forno. But is 1-2 miles from federal hill (and you can barely go wrong on federal hill).
If you want ridiculously good old school Italian pizza go figidin (they serve with pizza cutter) but it's small
Otherwise best pizza is pizza by Marvin (James beard recognition; not much of restaurant though just pizza shop), nice slice (same) or the district (cool restaurant south side of pvd).
Dolores and xaco taco great Mexican. Xaco taco right next to district.
Jahungr is amazing Chinese (also James beard recognition). Like Marvin it's on cool street outside city called Wickenden (local pubs etc).
Thayer street and angel street both cool, got some college town vibes and local vibes (Thayer more the former and angel more the latter).
Newport is 25 miles/40 minutes away. Not a must do in March but still a very cool town with plenty of awesome restaurants and shopping.
Bristol is 10 miles/25 minutes away and is old school New England town. They fancy themselves as being the biggest celebrators of July 4. On water, good seafood etc.
You can sit and eat at the bar. They also now do take reservations that open a couple of weeks before. Persimmon is also really goodMy daughter moved to Providence last year, and we've tried but haven't been able to get into Al Forno yet the few times we have been there. She literally lives in the building next door to it. It is supposed to be fantastic.
My favorite taco spot in RI is Tuxpan Taqueria (James Beard nominee a few years ago)... the Al Pastor is so good (although a bit sweet). 15 min from Prov in Central Falls.Xaco Taco is quite good. If you have one place to go I would say al forno. Worth it. Great grilled pizza. Also get the dirty steak- it’s never on the menu but always on the menu.
Right around the dunk er amp there are some decent places for beer and a bite. Malted barley has a good beer selection- food is mostly pretzels. Black sheep and Blake’s are typical bar food. Still walkable is rogue island which has good food and beer selection. It’s across eddy street so a couple of blocks further but honestly you can walk the entire downtown in about 25 min.
Theres also bacaro which is similar to Al forno (former Al forno chef) but usually not as crowded. For a sandwich there’s Geoff’s on south main.
Last but not least is the only place I know of with salt potatoes in New England- there there There, There.. It’s on the west side. In that general area are a couple of breweries- moniker, long live- two good pizza places- pizza j and nice slice- and a really good sandwich place called the sandwich hut.
If you do go to the coast guard house it’s worth checking out matunuck oyster bar. But pack a lunch as Rhode Islanders would say. Wicked far. Like a whole 50 minutes
