Syracuse will hold its first-ever event as part of Uplifting Athletes in two weeks, the nonprofit organization announced Thursday.
The inaugural Lift for Life challenge on July 25 will be an offense vs. defense challenge as part of the team's max-out workout. The winning team will be decided by the most max-out weight lifted combined as well as total fundraising dollars, according to the release.
The money raised by Syracuse's chapter of Uplifting Athletes will help combat anaplastic astrocytoma, a rare type of brain cancer that former punter Rob Long beat.
