It's been quite the ride since I was over here last -- both of our football seasons probably didn't end up quite as we expected but it goes like that from time to time.

I saw that the Orange hired Dale Williams as their new OL coach and just wanted to voice my opinion on him since he was the OL coach at Purdue for a number of years.

HE SUCKS. I am so sorry that you have to go through Dale Williams as your OL coach.

You were entirely right and I appreciate the warning lol. This board has a tendency to think any coach that’s hired is Vince Lombardi until proven otherwise and then when proven otherwise they’re the worst coach that’s ever existed. No middle ground.

Hey guy - thanks for the heads up. It’s been mentioned more than a couple times here since … the one part that didn’t seem to translate to our experience is the part about him affecting recruiting - I think we’ve done fairly well in that regard but maybe he doesn’t have those responsibilities here? I’m cutting and pasting from that thread —> “Dale couldn't recruit OL because the rumor was that no one wanted to play for him. That's why Purdue has had to rebuild the OL the last two years with transfers. Heck, there was so little depth last season built up that Purdue started two NAIA transfers this year.”

As people have said on other threads Williams was a Nixon pick. The most telling thing to me was that when Braum went to Louisville he hired a new Oline coach and made Williams a consultant.

I don't think Purdue will ever be good again...but I do like Barry Odom as a coach.

Vance Vice is the OL coach now, OL was decent this year and I'd think he's solid with his track record.

I tried to warn that it was a horrible hire. Generally, when the opposing fanbase is happy they are gone it's not a great sign for the hiring program ha.

Hilarious. I bought some stuff off of him when he was let go at Purdue. I saw it on the NCAA Apparel, Game Used, and Merchandise group and figured why the heck not ha.

That's an interesting take re: never good again. Purdue is an extremely good school, with a solid fanbase, in an elite conference and some pretty cool gear and colorways that could make them a pretty trendy gear selection. There are a lot of parallels to Syracuse although you don't have the private school and insane tuition costs issues that Syracuse does.
