Class of 2026 QB/ATH Tyrell Grant Jr (VA) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (6/18/25)

That still puts us at 28th in the country that is something to write home about
4 4 star recruits (we haven't done that in 30 years), with a handful of guys right at the cusp of 4 stars
We have a punter (#1 overall) and an unranked player so that will bring us down at bit

100% we should be writing home about this
That number is weighted towards quantity and will keep dropping as more schools line up commits…. Unless Fran starts grabbing more highly coveted players.

People keep raving about this recruiting class, but we’re ranked ninth in the ACC. That’s nothing to write home about.
Fran’s classes are much better than anything in the last 10 to 15 years. Dino was lucky to get one player ranked 87. Fran has multiple players in this class that are 87 or higher. There is one 83 and an 84 not counting the punter that are Oline. Everyone else is at least an 85 or higher.
We would all like everyone to be a four star but that is unrealistic. It’s a numbers game. You take a flyer on some players. If they commit to the program and culture and excel great, if not they get the talk and move on.

This dude has some adult power in his legs already! He is definitely someone who can be coached up.

Wow, if we are both 28th in the country and 9th in the ACC, that is fantastic. We really want the best few football teams in the conference to be top 10 and the champion to be top 5 every season. Recruiting well is the key to that happening. The SEC stranglehold on talent needed to be broken.

Being in a lousy also-ran basketball conference was no fun the last few years, and it looks like the football conference is headed to a better place if that’s what conference recruiting looks like.

Of course, the basketball conference recruited really well this season as well. The collective ACC athletic directors and university leadership must have come around to making NIL a priority.

Writing home about what an awesome recruiter Fran is:

Frans classes have been better than anything we've had in 25 years.

Beating out schools in Florida for Florida kids is not normal.

THE IMPORTANCE OFTHE 40 YARD DASH FOR>>>> WR’S, LB’S, DB’S & RB’S<<<<

It is primarily run to evaluate the speed and acceleration of American football players by coaches and scouts particularly for the NFL Draft but also for collegiate recruiting. A player's recorded time for every position can have a heavy impact on his prospects in college or professional football.

FAIR - = 4.90 – 5.0+

FAIR = 4.8 - 4.89

GOOD = 4.7 - 4.79

FAST = 4.6 - 4.69

FAST! = 4.5 - 4.59
>>>4.50 40<<<

VERY FAST = 4.4 – 4.49

ELITE = 4.0 – 4.39

CURRENT BEST 40 YARD SPEED ON TEAM: MALACHI JAMES 4.24 FROM BURLINGTON, NJ HAS THE FASTEST 100M IN STATE HISTORY, A 10.18
NOTE: IN MY EVAL’S, NOTICED HC FRAN BROWN’S OFFERS ARE IN THE 4.4 TO 4.6 RANGE AT THE RUNNING BACK, WIDE RECEIVER AND DEFENSIVE BACK POSITIONS. HOWEVER, HCFB’S COMMITMENT TO SPEED AT ALL POSITIONS IS BEING MAINTAINED GOING FORWARD.

I get what you are saying. The top end of this class is the best we’ve had recruiting wise. In awhile, maybe in modern recruiting site history. We already have multiple 4 stars and multiple guys in the top 300 which is rare air for us. And I think we have a few more coming.

On top of that we have 6 guys that I know of that BIG BOYS are trying hard to flip. We took a couple guys out of Florida that FSU, UF and Miami REALLY wanted. And they chose Cuse.

Sure we have a few under the radar guys with limited offers. But Fean has had a few of those guys every class and a couple have already turned out pretty well. Watson was a no mane until the last few weeks of the recruiting year, Kerr was a no name and started games last year and did well. Ibn had like no offers and he looked good in the bowl game. It’s a small sample size but it’s only been a year and a half of recruiting for Fran and staff. And they have done well already with highly recruited players and under the radar guys.

It’s pretty clear what they look for in under the radar guys. A lot of them are raw. But they are lengthy, long, athletic and fast. All good to have. They have intangibles and Fran is betting on himself and staff to develop the skills on these guys to go along with the intangibles
