Truer words could not be spoken.

I think people forget that these schools have such a large alumni base it is far more easier for them to find big donors that are willing to donate big money.

This is why Syracuse holds its large donors in such high regard, there is far fewer of them.

Syracuse is slowly closing the gap but we arent even close to what some of these larger schools are at.
I agree. OiG has it right. To that end, Oregon has NIKE money and potential corporate NIL deals at it's disposal (money that was once used to build them the best facilities in college football). As for B1G and SEC TV money, that cannot go to players above the $24.5 million limit. That's the revenue that is being shared. We spend to that same limit. What it CAN do is buy better coaches, or even provide better support to non-revenue sports (aiding in a higher allocation of that $24.5 to football over those other sports). The previously mentioned NIL access (NIKE) can also do that.

Very cool he has that connection because, if I’m being honest, every time I see “Georgetown” I think I’m hard coded to feel some disgust 😂
Who was the lax player from Gtown who transferred in as a senior and did well for us? I can picture him but blank on the name. My Gtown pals hated him for coming and helping us win a chip

I'm gonna sound like a "hater" or whatever, but the one season he played significant time was 2024 and he had 11 TDs to 10 INTs. That's at the FCS level. And he's coming off an injury. I understand depth and all that, but you're telling me he's better than Jakhari or Carney?? CDRW probably wasn't good enough for this level, but he put up much better numbers at Marshall than this guy did at Georgetown. This whole portal season has been a little confusing to me. Pushing out top producers because they're "not a great fit" and replacing them with nothing but question marks. Concerning coming off a 3-9 where the whole coaching stuff quit, to say the least.

In fairness, that was 2 years ago. Hopefully, he made progress last year before his injury and can make progress again this off season. Strictly speaking, Filardi should be a better QB next year than he was this past year.

With Carney at Houston, I think this rules out the notion that he was content to stay here as QB#3 anyway. No idea about JW.

I think keeping Rickie as QB#3 would have been fine (said it elsewhere)... but the $$$ was never going to work. QB#3 probably has to be very inexpensive... limiting the options to guys valuing the degree as much as the NIL/playing time. Lauter apparently has 2 years left, not 1... if so, that makes it perhaps a better investment for both sides.

The kid went to Georgetown so I’m guessing he’s not a dummy. The offense is predicated on quick reads and processing. He’s being brought in as the break in case of emergency QB who can look the part on the sideline with a headset on and run multiple scout offenses. He’s got more than 10 mins of actual game time experience so that’s a plus but I think we’re reading way too much into this if we’re comparing his worthiness to the Qb’s who got the talk.

I understand your argument, but we have no idea how he will perform here

We could have gotten Sam Leavitt for crying out loud with expectations as the next McCord, but anything can happen. Season ending injuries happen, inconsistent play happens, off field issues happen, etc.

This kid could end up being the starter once angeli’s gone.

Will it happen? lol, no that’s highly unlikely, but what I’m saying is we truly have no idea until they’re on the field.

I don't think this guy is QB3.

Angeli
Odom
Lott
Filardi OR Lauter
That is all how we hope it ends up as that means we have something better in Lott. Assuming it doesn't mean Lauter is stinking it up.

But god I hope that was not the thinking for Lauter coming in. He has to have been brought in for additional depth with the thought he'd be at least serviceable as QB3, and you have to hope its to be ahead of Filardi after what we witnessed. Filardi has to be just deeper depth and development at this point. If the plan was just for Lautner to be just another arm for the receivers then the staff would be getting a failing grade from me.

They pushed out two decent producers, Willis and Cook and neither are that great and both replaceable. Gill was the best guy we lost and the staff definitely wanted him to stay. We have no idea if this kid is better than Carney or Williams but neither was a producer. We really didn’t have too many producers last year, but our three best players, Angeli, Samuels and AD, are still here. Lots of holes to fill and we don’t have Texas Tech budget. Look at the massive talent loss we had after 2024, and even with all that, we were a likely bowl team if Steve wasn’t injured. Why can’t we replace a couple of decent guys with this new group and be successful? Especially considering we now have coaches who aren’t just recruiters. Kehres is miles better than EROB, that and having Steve(we hope) and Odom gives us a huge boost. By the way, Cook hasn’t even found a new home yet, he isn’t as good as he, or you, thinks
