Class of 2027 QB Justin Dixon (MD) Decommtted

Qb recruits feel dumb in the portal era. They just can’t compete against seasoned college qbs, based on everything we’ve learned the last five years, right??? Let mac, sunbelt and cusa start young quarterbacks and then take them…or take backups from big programs who can’t make the field. Those feel 100000000% more likely to hit than “pretty good” hs recruit (who would bolt if it actually does go great)
Is that 100 million percent or 10 million? Please include commas so that my old eyes can differentiate 😉

Seems obvious that this decommit had to do with the staff accepting a commitment from Foulke. There wasn't any big developments in Dixon's recruiting with other schools that we know of. So was this decommit because he wanted to be part of a one QB class or is this because the SU staff implied that Foulke is the likely #1 QB in our class at the moment. I think its pretty likely that its the latter. We signed Dixon pretty early and sometimes it just doesn't pan out as hoped. Hope he can find another good opportunity.

"I love the culture that coach (Fran) Brown is building here and I wanted to be a part of that," Dixon said to recruiting analyst Charles Kang of The Juice Online. "I chose to commit early because it was right for me. It just felt right."

Taking that one step further, I think that in one of the website's rating, they were actually consecutively ranked. One was rated something like the 1127 player nationally, and the other was 1128.
Foulke was 1,129 and Dixon was 1,130.

Well are we working on an offer to 1131? What seals it for me was Dixons only other P4 offer was Maryland. Foulke has a Miami, Maryland, UNC and UGA offer ... not that offers are the end all be all but for UGA and Miami to come up and offer him tells me he is ranked too low. Dixon got the hometown school offer and may end up having a better career but Foulke seems to be a bigger recruiting win to me ... the other food for thought .. Foulke comes now that Ryan is here, Dixon was the old QB coaches ... is it style of play or does Ryan see something more in Foulke? Only time will tell.

They were very closely ranked. Dixon committed very early and most schools aren't likely to offer or invest alot of time in committed kids. Speculation on my part.

Early offers have never stopped the big boys from calling though .. and these schools were on Foulke early. Usually if a guy gets a P4 offer (even from us) it draws more eyeballs. This may be a Sean Ryan move and I'm ok with it.

The term committed means alot different in the post NIL days than it did prior. Colleges no longer stop pursuing players that say they're 'commited'. Whatever that means.

Yeah I was going to say that Dixon was brought in prior to the change to Ryan. So is natural to see some shuffling.
