Class of 2025 QB Luke Carney (TX) COMMITTED / SIGNED NLI TO SYRACUSE (12/4/24)

Considering he's a true freshman, and the other guys have a lot more years in P4 programs, I suspect Carney will have to be better, and not just by a little, to wind up the starter.

Even Fran mf Brown has to worry about the appearances game when it comes to taking a highly rated transfer and talking a highly rated player into staying, and then starting a true freshman over them.

It better be one of those "even the players themselves can see it" type situations, or the whole of team chemistry could be harmed.

It would be amazing if the other guys are good, but true freshman Carney still beats them out handily and wins the starting job.
For clarity, Collins has 2 years P4 experience and Williams has one year P4 experience.

Collins has played in 4 games over 2 years and has a total of 7 passing attempts and 7 rushing attempts.

Williams has, I believe, zero game experience at QB.

Obviously, Collins and Williams have P4 practice experience, weight training, and film room experience, and that counts as something and does give them the upper hand in winning the job.

Sometimes you just can't keep a younger player who is just better than the competition off the field. I'm not saying this will be the case when it's clear in front of the HC, staff and players...well it is what it is.

For this to happen for Luke and actually the ex LSU QB, they have to pick this offense up pretty quickly because Jaquari has a big jump on them.

Good talent is always a wonderful problem to have.

Fran will start who he thinks gives the team the best chance to win.
This kids tape is special. He throws an amazing ball and has wheels. I wouldn't count him out.

Or, it would be devastating if neither one is good enough that a true freshman is the best option...

Bnoro, you rui…

Thanks,

Watching his tape and knowing how much he’s won, I have a feeling about him as well. And I’m almost never wrong ;)

The bolded is what I was referring to... Thanks for clarifying if my post was unclear.

How much different will the offense be? I think perhaps its much the same but the skill set changes so things play out different. if the oline is better maybe we run more to set up more passing.

other than practice non of these guys has any experience. Our QB ran the scout team. Also i expect that the O Nixon is going to run will be different than what was run with Kyle.
Nixon will fit the offense to best use the players he has.
We really won't know how good our backfield will be until after spring practice, and how things progress in the fall.

I agree. At the same time, Nixon, like most coaches has tendencies. It's quite obvious he likes to put the ball in the air. His number one objective is to choose the qb who he feels gives us the best chance to win. That qb may also be the one who can run an offense that fits his style.

Early in, our Oline didn’t block very well, so we had to throw. Also, we may well have had THE best QB in the country, and 3-4 NFL caliber receivers. Why not throw a lot.
