QB Room

The point being that he might have missed time this year anyway. Not sure how comment got on top here.
Got word today from a direct source that Angeli is doing well with his rehab and fully expects to be ready well before next year. Was also told he tore his MCL likely earlier in the game against Clemson and likely contributed to his Achilles tear.

Washington State QB in the bowl game was an FCS transfer I think and he grabbed the starting job off the heels of that game.

Not sure what you’re getting at. My point was discussing Angeli’s recovery specifically because there’s certain posters downplaying how good he was and also believe that the injury is going to wreck his career which isn’t the case.

My point is that he not only has to get past THAT injury, he also has to avoid additional injuries. Some QBs are injury prone... even if one of those injuries is a fluke. Not like anyone TRIES to get injured. Cannot blame any injury prone QB. The game happens. But it is a mistake to assume that Angeli starts every regular season game next year, regardless of his recovery from THIS injury.

And then there are nagging injuries. Castellanos has not missed a game for FSU, IIRC, but the consensus is that he is not playing close to 100% either. So there is also nagging injuries that reduce effectiveness. So we need a QB2 that can take the reins for one week just to let Angeli heal properly, etc. Like Oklahoma with the Mateer injury. And he is another example of a guy that is playing hurt and came back too early to try to give them a chance to beat Texas.

This is a very tough situation. But if the Nixon offense only works for Angeli and not for any other QB on the roster... that makes it a pretty big gamble that next year is not another one where the wheels fall off.

i'm somewhat convinced Villari has the size , strength and skills to compete at the next level. at QB ? no friggin ' way ! but he has the talent to catch on somewhere at some position. my thoughts are put him under center. pound the ground game. hit the easy short options. i believe that's our best look to finish out the season.

That doesn’t seem fair to Villari. He has remade his body to be a tight end. Let him to continue to grow at the tight end spot because that’s where his future money will be made.

For ND... I would start Collins... and then bring Filardi in if/when Collins falters.

For BC... start Carney and play Filardi
