Class of 2025 QB Tramell Jones (FL) Decommitted from FSU / Flipped to Florida

He hasn’t. We’ve had 3 losses, Pitt was 100% on McCord, BC was 100% on our defense, and Stanford was mostly McCord too. 4 pick sixes in the Stanford / Pitt losses and he’s gotten away with more than that.

Could the line be better? Sure. But he’s not running for his life all game. If you want to see running for you life watch the DeVito years.
Yeah, we can’t accept that our line is much better than it’s been in recent years. Some of that is because McCord can get the ball out quicker.

Based on what Mccord is doing at Syracuse, why would a top notch QB not consider the Cuse? The QB spot as it looks now for next year...is wide open. I suspect we bring in an experienced portal QB...but a good HS QB has to look at the landscape here and think...I could start by year 2!!
The scenario that you describe is exactly what we have...an experienced portal QB (McCord) and a good HS QB thinking he could start in year 2 (Jakhari).

I'm going to enjoy these last couple of games with McCord, but it will be interesting to see the approach Coach Fran and staff take at the QB position going forward. I agree, what QB wouldn't want to run this offense?!

I like the kids we have in the program and the ones coming in as frosh. I would use NIL on retention and bringing in a QB who played this year at a lower level and did well.
Assuming the staff believes what they have now, and what they have in the pipeline is strong, that is an excellent strategy. Also, since Kyle has been such a strong plug and play addition, at some point in the future if we need to go that route again Fran will be selling a superior track record. I think we are in a good spot.

Some of it is chicken or egg. The quick release is part of the offensive scheme and you’ll see on the majority of his picks and near picks, it’s not the line allowing people to get to him, it’s passes that are floated or on the wrong side of the receiver. I love McCord but like all QB’s when you’re game is to rush you’re going to make mistakes.

Now the line has totally let guys get to him too but generally he gets sacked when that happens. And they’ve had their share of drive killing sacks so they’re not innocent here.

What is interesting though is that the games he’s suffered the most sacks are the games we lost. 12 sacks against Pitt/BC/Stanford and 9 in the other 7 games. But you’d have to really analyze that because good coverage can cause sacks just from the ball being held too long. Overload blitzing can cause sacks and that can be more on the QB/WR’s, the scheme, or RB/TE’s picking up blocks. People are quick to default blame the OL for sacks and sometimes it’s not their fault.
