Class of 2019 QB Tyree Jackson (MI) Grad Transfer from Buffalo to enter NFL Draft

I like people who look at different perspectives and not just fan lens. We are all rooting for TD, he has shown flashes with the little time he got. From Jackson's perspective, why wouldnt he think this way?
Absolutely rooting for TD. If you flip the perspective another way, consider how writers, analysts, coaches with other programs (or grad transfers) might look at our QB unit. Very thin on depth, scant experience in the presumed starter, an injury away from trouble. We had a top 3 QB in the ACC with Dungey as a senior (or better); QB unit with what we have in 2019 will be ranked where pre-season among ACC teams? Guessing 10th, tops.

Maybe he could go to Washington State. Menshew was a grad transfer there and he excelled.

putting one's name in the portal does not guarantee a transfer, it just allows coaches from other schools to contact you. It is a new world we are living in with the new rules that are player friendly. He'd be foolish not to enter his name in the portal and see what was available. For reasons articulated in this thread, he may only receive limited interest or opportunities not that attractive to him (i.e. no guarantees of a starting position at a P5 program). In which case he will likely simply return to Buffalo. But you can't fault him for seeing what is out there.

I can't see him possibly leaving unless he gets a guarantee from a P5 school with a QB whisperer Coach/OC. Would be a disastrous decision to go learn a new system with new teammates while playing against higher level competition in any other situation.

Unless he gets a guaranteed starting position he's probably better off training with an off-season QB guru and staying at UB.

Kid didnt play for Syracuse. Didnt play against Syracuse. Wasnt recruited by Syracuse. And there is virtually no chance Syracuse would be interested in taking him as a transfer. Please lock and/or delete this thread. This is not a UB fansite.

Or, you could just put the thread on Ignore...

Boom. Will do. On your end, maybe consider another perspective?

Or, maybe create an all-inclusive thread for grad transfers who are "worth a mention" as Tiz suggested?

Posters have a right to start threads. Mods have a right to decide if the threads should stay. And all posters have the ability to put threads on ignore. There are lots of threads that are posted about kids that are never offered by Syracuse. That doesn't mean that they aren't of interest to some of the members of the forum. Threads don't have to be of interest to all.

He's an unrefined talent. What is this, the NBA?

It's CFB, this happens all over the country every year. One big difference is, compared to QB's coming directly out of H.S., TD has been practicing and learning for a couple years now and has game experience. So from a CFB perspective, we aren't in bad shape.

Sure it happens -- and in CFB, the loss of a senior QB, best in several seasons, team MVP and bowl MVP, might mean the team will take a step back the next season. From a CFB perspective, what shape at QB are we in compared to other ACC teams?

We will have to see (can't settle it based on TD's performance in 4 games) -- just as we will have to see how well SU can replace its starting OTs or its MLB who received all-ACC honors (second team).
