QB1: Angeli

The intelligence takes are getting tiresome. If you don’t know the player personally there is no reason to comment on their perceived intelligence. How someone talks to the media has as much to do with their personality as it does with how smart they are. They both bring different things to the table, may the best man win. Whoever starts will hopefully play well and win us games.

I think you’re right, the offensive line will be better than last year.

Two key observations from last year. The first is we were 125th in rushing. That is bad. And our passing game prowess should have lead to more success vs a light box. The second is that McCord made great reads and got the ball out early, masking a lot.

The offensive line in my opinion was not good. Especially at run blocking. Our guards constantly missed blocks and assignments, and our center played hurt. We also had limited depth.
Way better in end of year than beginning

My two cents. Collins is a uniquely gifted player. He can make all the throws, he is bigger, stronger, faster than Angeli but his gun slinger side is an issue as he seems to turn the ball over more.
Angeli is very accurate and doesn't force. His arm is good but not elite. He can move the chains with his legs but not as well as Collins.
He is more of a game manager, Collins is more like Dungey.
Very tough choice for the staff. Two excellent players and both good kids. I'd say Angeli is more outgoing than Collins.
We can win with either player. We have two very talented kids and the guys behind them are also good especially the kid from Texas and the LaCrosse player. Belin is small but he moves the team. Kids a baller.
Yeah what I gather as well. That’s the reason I kinda want Collins but of course full trust to the staff.

Feel like for Cuse to have 6/7 wins they might need to take the slighter risk at QB.

they have 3 weeks to get it right. few expect much game one. colgate would be epic failure. uconn we cant just give it away. if we are not 2-1 we are having big issues all over

My sense is that Rickie Collins has overall more raw talent. Better arm strength, running, etc. I know people don't love Axe but on his podcast his opinion was that he thinks Brown wants Collins to earn the job.
I don’t know why there’s so much animosity towards Axe. I think he’s great and I look forward to his opinions and insights. Same with Javon Edmonds. Think he’s also fantastic

Watching their interviews, it seems they both are great kids. Angelli is more guarded with his responses and not as at ease in front of the media. Ricky lets his personality out more and seems a little more innocent with his answers. Angelli comes across as a little more mature. None of this has anything to do with their ability to get the ball in the end zone. Last year was an anomaly, we will probably need both quarterbacks this year.

I haven’t posted in forever. Felt like doing so for some reason.

Anyway, spoke to my huge Notre Dame fan friend about Angeli. He said that he was Mr. Spark and Reliable at ND but he often wondered why he wasn’t getting pushed or even talked about in the Minchie/ Carr competition. He says he felt there was some concern that when teams actually game plan for him, he has some sort of vulnerability. My friend says that he is a big fan of Angeli and will always be.

He has been safer with the ball doesn't force much and makes the right reads. Nixon is about getting the team into the correct play. Making the right reads and getting the ball into playmakers hands. From what I have seen Steve does this better at this point. Collins has crazy talent, but he has been a little bit of a gun slinger and force some questionable throws. We have two very good QBs

yup. We have enough playmakers. We just need to get them the ball in space with a quick read.

So they've let you see the closed scrimmages?

I think in the long run/short run if the guys are pretty equal you are better off with the wild card coming in to try and save a game than the more consistent guy. But still up until the Clemson game lets see what happens. It also a fact that we are playing a guy who has seen the field a ton more in his career.

Lets hope we play well enough thru week 3 that both get some time.

I truly don't understand the logic of saying HCFB will take into consideration one drive from a previous season as a decision-making item for starting. It should have ZERO bearing on it. And if it does, HCFB is not the HC I think he is.
O79: Per Chris Carlson in his article on Syracuse.com this morning on the report that Steve Angeli will be QB1:

"Angeli had initially impressed the Syracuse coaching staff with his poise and performance as a backup quarterback during Notre Dame’s College Football Playoff semifinal win.

"Angeli came on for an injured Riley Leonard and led a sputtering Notre Dame offense to a field goal before halftime."

Me: It had to have had "some" consideration.
