Quadir Copeland/NC St

I think thats the point. People thought westry was going to come in and light the world on fire, constantly claiming he was the "missing piece" of an objectively bad team.
Couldn’t judge at from Westry’s time here. He played 10 minutes total in his 2 years at SU,

That's what i mean, he never contributed be it injuries or personal issues, he never contributed to the team despite being labeled as a savior. Its not a negative thing, just that the board was wrong throughout the entire season

And it took Q his 4th year to really blossom. Last year at McNeese he played less minutes per game than he did here as a sophomore. His senior year is his first year shooting over .250 from three which he did as a sophomore here. He’s now shooting .447 from 3 and is using great judgement on when he takes them - averaging a little less than 2 attempts/game. His assist to TO ratio really skyrocketed this year too. Good for him but he’s a different player this year.
You realize no one on the team averaged more than 28 minutes per game last year right? (Not counting the kid that averaged 30mpg and only played in 2 games). He also barely played the first 11 games as wade was COACHING him.

After the first 11 games, He was a key part of their team and played top 3 minutes on the team.

Wade brought him to NC State for a reason. It didn’t take him 4 years to flash and be good. He was extremely good last year once he got involved.

He flashed at Syracuse. There was a ton of talent there. However the coaches didn’t know how to coach him.

q was his own worst enemy here. he did it to himself. had nothing to do with coaching. glad he's turned things around.

He isn’t the same player. He always had talent and potential. When it was reported he stopped going to class, sadly he made his own decision. It has paid off in his last year for him thankfully.

Seems odd he allegedly stopped going to class but somehow stayed eligible.

If anyone thought Westry would be good this year he would have ended up somewhere better than UAB.

UAB likely offered immediate playing time. Which clearly he was ready for. The board acted as if he was closer to Lieutenant Dan than a p4 contributor. Crazy.

Does it really matter? No one plays to their potential under this staff anyway.

Westry gave no one any basis at all to form an opinion other than he was done. Most on here I remember were anticipating that he was going to be a big help going into last season.
Forgive me if I’m well beyond the point of giving this staff/program the benefit of the doubt when it comes to making the right decision with playing time or preparedness

I guess you just want to argue. The young man has grown up and made a huge transition not in just his game but his emotional reactions to playing the game. It’s a very nice story. Wade admits he needed to go to a small program to progress. I guess you want to blame Red, the program etc vs giving Copeland himself the credit for working hard, improving his game, listening to his coach etc.The explosion in his shooting %’s, his assists, his assist/TO ratio, his points-currently all statistically proves the great progression in his game this year. Sorry if you don’t see it but his current coach saw it during this summer.

“Will Wade indicated he did not initially expect Quadir Copeland to become the centerpiece of the 2025-26 NC State team, but recognized his rapid development halfway through the summer when Copeland began outplaying everyone
. Despite early "tough love" and a brief, difficult period, Wade noted that Copeland matured into a critical leader, playmaker, and, according to Pack Insider's 2025-26 report, a foundational piece, boasting historic performances like 16 assists with zero turnovers.

No arguments there. Just following up on the topic since I was absolutely dragged for challenging the popular narrative on Westry last year.

Some people in this thread are sharing different positions than they did in Qs transfer thread. I perused it quickly and I didn't see anyone blaming Red at the time. It seems like people are blaming him for that now given his overall lack of success. That doesn't mean perspective can't change but it sure seems more like a pile on Red.
A question(s) to those blaming Red for Q. Is it your opinion that there is no player individual responsibility anymore? That no matter how many chances a problem player is given, the players have no responsibility for their actions or inactions? If the player is creating discipline issues, causing problems in and outside the locker room at what point if they don't fall in line do you get rid of them?
I think Red deserves all the blame as coach for the overall direction and lack of success. I am not blaming him because he tried to better the culture and accountability.
