Quadir Copeland transferring to McNeese St

On one hand I know some aren't that happy with the way it finished with Q, so they take a little joy out of this (that's not me, but that's fine if that's your view)

On the other hand what does it say about the status of our teams in recent years, that a regular here can't even get regular minutes with McNeese St.

Exactly

Exactly
Watched part of the game, they looked pretty good against Alabama. (Not Quadir though) They were in the NCAA’s last year losing to Gonzaga and won 30 games last season admittedly not in a really strong conference but did beat Michigan and VCU away.

FWIW, Taylor, Bennie and Carey not doing much with their respective teams either. But I think with the exception of Malik, it was addition by subtraction when these guys portaled

Wade can stack talent and they look like a good team. Sad Quadir couldn't act up to expectations and focus on basketball.

Carlos is tiny and looks weak defensively. Q had size and defensively could be a game changer.

Another situation where everyone loses I guess.

So, we've bailed on Jaquan Carlos after one game. And he was the savior after the 1st 2 exhibitions.

Got it. Thanks for catching me up.

Yeah I don't watch exhibitoons I don't even like college basketball anymore after the last 2 march madnesses and it was my favorite sport hands down for decades. Will watch us but even those Duke MSU Kentucky Kansas games will be a chore tonight tbd.

Him and JJ look to be in line for 35 mins per game. I'm nervous we won't get to reserve judgment until Texas should we end up dropping Colgate or Youngstown. Let's see how the do against Texas I guess...

Bell looks stronger and good for 20mpg at the 3 and C and PF looks fine with Jayre Lamp Donnie and McLeod.

Any fan that isn't absolutely terrified of the JJ-Carlos back court after LeMoyne is delusional.

Not to mention half the threads on this forum last season decried Judah;s lack of playmaking skills and how we needed a "true point guard" to run the offense. Carlos disastrous game featured 6 assists and 1 turnover in a game where no one shot the ball well. Had a couple open threes fallen and a couple of bunnies that were missed been converted he easily could have had 8 - 10 assists.

Fair, but he can't go scoreless for a majority of the game.

I dont care about Carlos on the offensive side of the ball. If he is distributing the ball and playing with pace our offense will put up points if he scores or not.

I am more concerned with him on the defensive side of the ball. LeMoyne's guard was able to get by him pretty regularly and that is scary because he was brought in as a defensive first-type player and we have very little to zero rim protection. If the LeMoyne guards were able to turn the corner on him then I can't imagine what ACC-type guards will be able to do. That is where he needs to sure up his game. IMO

Yeah seeing the struggles of everyone except Maliq is telling regarding the talent level last year. Bummed for JT though. Such a good kid and plays hard he just lacks the feel for the game at this level.

I mean he starts but only got 14 mins in their most recent game after a mediocre first outing too

If he played great defense I could live with your first paragraph, but if you're not scoring, playing poor defense then you need to have 15 assists. I don't care if it sounds like a lot.

It's ridiculous we can't find a normal goddamn point guard. Can whomever this is just be average at everything?

It's one game, I'm not closing the book on him obviously, but we're better than defending his game, it was awful.

Don't want to derail the thread further but this is not actually true. Carlos was beaten very little off the dribble, certainly not regularly. Maybe that changes against tougher comp, but he had a quality defensive game against Lemoyne. The replay tape is very kind to him, not so kind to everyone else. He turned his man away far more times than they turned the corner. His worst looking plays were after some egregious moving picks by Lemoyne, which were finally called by the ref late in the game. Recommend checking out the replay if you are concerned.

JT still has a wrist injury. A medical redshirt is not out of the question.
