Question for people who have been to Va Tech

I just watched a video talking about how heavy freight traffic is on 81 in Virginia, and how all proposals to expand the number of lanes are running into political hurdles. Tolling is probably required, but both local residents and the national trucking association are opposed and make that solution difficult.

Was eye opening to see how much freight traffic on 81 has exploded in the last two decades - and that it was entirely predictable. It’s frustrating how our political system incentivizes waiting for problems to occur so politicians can be heroes for solving them instead of a more proactive approach.

After watching that, I’d recommend anyone going to the game leave extra travel time - the likelihood of getting through Virginia without some delays is apparently very low.
I don't know hold old the video was... funding was "resolved" about 5 years ago along the 81 corridor by increasing the gas tax. But the state has been VERY slow putting down a third lane and it is needed BIG TIME!! Funny though...years ago $$$ was found to put a 3rd lane down (I81)as you approach the VA Tech exits AND along rt 460 which takes you right past the VaTEch campus.. traffic flow was improved considerably.
State has its priorities...

I really wanted to go to this game but couldn't pull the trigger because I wasn't sure about when I was leaving my job until a few weeks ago. Thought about it again today and looked t flights but I just can't justify spending a grand on a flight to go watch THIS game by myself when I am already going to Honolulu next month.

Lane Stadium is a bucket list venue for me so I guess I will roll the dice on the ACC surviving long enough for me to see 'Cuse play there whenever the next cycle is. Jealous of everyone that is going.
