Quick (albeit late) Thoughts

I wouldn't bother. Mack was fine even if he wasn't the best analyst. There's a certain number that always thinks the announcers are biased against us.
I'm leery about every announcer with a Southern accent but thought Brown was harmless.

Exactly the word I would use. Mack was far from an expert analysis but he was harmless.

When it comes to injuries, we were missing 4 starters to start the game and didn't make any excuses. Players just continue to fill voids and step up.

Can't say enough what huge additions both Pierce and Alton Robinson were. These are high end JUCO players who are making an immediate difference.

You can just feel the momentum building. A win like this, on the recruiting front our first Army AA recruit ever in Tyrone Sampson, I just hope we continue it and the staff uses this as a springboard to finish out the recruiting season really strong.

And hats off to Dabo Swinney. Class act all the way around. The way he carried himself after this just makes Shafer look like a bigger moron for his antics towards Dabo.

I don't know how you can argue against that point.
How can he know better if the second reception was not pass interference? Yeah, I read what you stated about extending both arms, which was not the case. Touching to feel where the opposing player is not pass interference on offense or defense. If we would have lost this game everybody would have been in turmoil over it. Just saying...

  • When you look up competitor in the dictionary, there should be a picture of Dungey. great effort, particularly on that 1st down
  • In spite of the fumble which could have been game-changing, best Game from Strickland. That 1st TD gave us the confidence we needed.
  • 2 softest Offensive PI calls on Ishmael I've ever seen in my life, particularly considering how physical the Clemson DB's were. Huge calls, which i thought could cost us the game. The team showed great perseverance continuing to battle.
  • I know it was with 2 hands, but the catch by Renrow by the sidelines was one of the best catches I have ever seen. Etienne is going to be scary.
  • Ward called a great game on D
  • Pierce can play
  • Is our OL slowly growing up in front of our very eyes?
  • I was nervous when Bryant got hurt. Besides his health after being down that long, he was clearly limited and I wanted him in there that way.
  • Tip my hat to the D. After a slow start, came up big
  • How bad was Mack Brown? He was so bad, he consistently made comments that made no sense and contradicted himself several times (e.g. If it stays close, all the pressure on Clemson, advantage Syracuse...2 minutes later-If it stays close, Clemson knows how to win games, advantage Clemson).
  • Murphy came up big. Happy to see that
  • Talking heads on ESPN saying "program-changing win"-Will it be?
  • Tackling, tackling, tackling...
We are a much improved tackling team...cannot keep getting off the field on third down without wrapping guys up and bringing them to the ground...

Here's the exact moment I'm talking about. Two hands clearly on the body. He then changes direction. Not saying it's a good call. I'm saying two hands is WHY it was called.

how i know it wasnt PI is that the DB never turned to complain about the contact.. if they feel a push they let everyone know

I think we could all agree that it wasn't a "push" like Mack Brown (who is no longer a coach) claims. This would not get called three out of four times. Nice video post btw.

I mean, I thought it was soft. But in the heat of the moment, when you don't have the angle, when the defender happens to move away from the receiver after the receiver had both hands but up, I can see why it was called. And as you said, thank goodness it didn't decide the game.

I understand why it was called, but it wasn't the right call. It's easy to make a call when you're looking at the replay :)

I really like the Mack Brown analysis in this thread. Had a friend join me about ten minutes into the game. He used to live in Texas and immediately knew it was Mack Brown. Hates him. I didn't mind him at first but then every stupid thing he said was pointed out to me (like in this thread) and I realized Brown is pretty terrible. I completely recall the question about why defense gets tired first and his answer was "the offense knows where it's going" ... which I think requires a little more explanation.

mack brown was so biased against su it was disgusting. basically made excuses for clemson the whole game and was almost rooting for them, gave our ol and defense no credit most of the time
You heard a different game than I did. He had plenty of praise for us.

I don't think Mack Brown added much to the telecast.

All he did throughout the night was say 'You can't do that if you want to win', when any player made a mistake.
Delay of game call - 'You can't do that if you want to win.'
False start - 'You can't do that if you want to win.'

The same banal comment over and over throughout the night.
What would you have preferred that he said?

Yeah, it’s a good word to describe it. People get too caught up with that stuff. I just watch the game and maybe just try to pick up on something funny (like how Mack had analysis on a fake ready for each 4th down).

We must have watched different games because I didn’t come away with that exact impression at all. Might have to watch replay again
Oh, it was bad all right. Spent the game coaching the Tigers.
