Quick Observations from College Park

Good grief! More kvetching about the uniforms. Take a gander at what West Virginia wore tonight and the complaints about our different unis should stop.

Just replying to the post. First time I've thrown in my two cents about the uni's.

Here's the real rule as defined by the NCAA rule book for 2013-14. Are you really using chacha as a source? There in fact IS a halo.

The grandstand seats where pretty good. I was sitting in the second row, not sure how it was further up. Heard lots of people complaining about the walk up top haha.

First time on the College Park campus - very nice - neat seeing legendary Cole Field House - Byrd Stadium cold and dreary - the grandstand opposite the press box is way too high - the seats up there must be awful.

MD fans very nice - many expressed dissatisfaction with the move to the Big Ten.

Sorry, but I still don't like the blue pants.

We hit really hard tonight.

I like the MD QB, C.J. Brown a lot - athletic, can run and throws well, but once again he was harassed by the Orange - we made him make mistakes.

Ryan Sloan getting time - he looks solid - strong and active - really pleased that he's playing.

Very happy with the number of players who get to play - my MD friend noticed it - "how many RBs do you guys have??"

We make way too many mistakes - the fumble by J. Smith really hurt and the penalties are maddening - especially the false start penalties - I still don't get the punt interference call- can somebody explain it to me?

Once again lots of frosh out there including Parris, Moore, Johnson, McFarland, Morris, Estime - but did not see Marquez Hodge.

Does anybody think that Broyld stopped the slant route that resulted in an INT?

Ryan Norton really stepped up today - the FG late in the first half - after two TOs by Randy Edsall - was clutch.

The Orange fans were out and loud!

Great effort - always a great day when the team wins an away conference game.

"Kick catch interference" is an automatic 15 yard penalty, whether there is contact or not. If there is contact, the refs could also call a "targeting" foul and possible player ejection.

i know thats the rule.. im just not understanding why its a rule.. you can face do anything you want to a rcvr except interfere. why is a guy who is calling a fair catch offered more protection for a non contact play?

The tv angle was atrocious as well. The camera was about 20 miles away from action, so far I could barely tell who was on the field during the pre-snap. It was like watching All-22 video

I'm optimistic that we're getting close. At least we look good. Here's hoping a couple of tweaks keep us looking good and looking more like a Syracuse uniform. The contemporary style is slick, just needs a little more Orange flavor.

Broyld is absolutely at fault on that INT. Why would you ever stop moving towards a catchable ball? He is as maddening as the penalties.

I got skewered in a post earlier this year questioning Broyld's ability to play wide receiver. Oh well

It looked to me like Broyld didn't give up on it. He didn't force the db to turn, however, so he was able to jump the route.

As much as it bothers me that the school that bragged a few years ago how they were the only university in the country to have just one official color does not use uniforms that contain that color, I would be embarrassed to wear Maryland's uniforms and helmets. They are an abomination.

I was sitting up there, It sucked although we could see the landmarks from the capitol up there, felt like i was a couple area codes from the field and it was cold. oops meant to quote orange Pa

You don't look the same, but you still look like you. We're the Orange(men), our uniforms should represent that in some way.

The more stadiums I travel too the more I love the Dome. Even with 30,000+ Die hard football fans in the Dome it really is the loud house.

Yesterday there were 30,000+ at Byrd Stadium and there was no crowd noise whatsoever on 3rd down. They were a non-factor and believe it or not their sound system was far worse than the Dome.

One more win and we go bowling !!

I couldn't understand what Broyld was doing on that play. It looked like he thought there was noone else with a play on that ball. Hope he learned that lesson so we don't see that again.

Someone either better tell the Orangemen about the halo rule or instruct them to completely wipe out the return man. This intimidation if the receiver is doing nothing for anyone.
