Random thoughts flying back home

It is 100% by design, they don't want you to leave. Same reason you just can't walk down one simple sidewalk down the strip.

There isn't one thing in that city that isn't designed for them to make more money.

What’s that ?
6:5 BJ tables. Natural BJ’s have always paid 3:2. Recently casinos have changed the payout and although it seems marginal it’s a shitty thing to do when you ALREADY have the edge and are just trying to squeeze out more. I know supply and demand blah blah blah. Especially hurts AP’s who are playing with a tiniest of edges to begin with

Unfortunately it’s prevalent now all over Vegas Scumbags.
I was there in 2022 and refused to play 6-5 Blackjack. I was able to find 3-2 blackjack downtown and a $50 table at the Venetian.

Does Pono Burger serve a Big Kahuna burger? If not - they really should.

With only one location there’s no way they could afford it - but a TV ad with Samuel L Jackson taking a bite and saying “This is a tasty burger!” would be hilarious.

The Tomcat in the wild is a wonder to behold.
Been with him at multiple venues, only had a little trouble once ,when those silly Ohio fans in Athens took offense to Tomcats playfull and endearing “ Rip his head off “ yell .

If more people understood the huge difference between 6-5 and 3-2 and refused to play the casinos might go back. But sadly I saw full 6-5 tables all over the strip.

I've lived in California for 15 years Tom and In N Out here has almost this religious type cult following. Dare you say In N Out isn't the best burger place in the galaxy and see what happens! LOL. But I agree with you 100% - it's good, it's not any better than Shake Shack or 5 guys, and there are local LA places that are better than all of them. Price point it's on par with Mcdonald's, but most locations in So Cal you have to wait a half hour plus at any normal meal time to get your food so it starts to take on more of a comparative to places like Shake Shack or 5 guys where you have to wait a bit in my opinion. But it's definitely a good value for the price if you're willing to wait for it.
In San Diego there’s definitely better local burger places. The Balboa, Rocky’s and The Friendly just to name a few. But I love In N Out. I think it’s way better than Shake Shack or 5 Guys. But I also hate overly greasy burgers. In N Out just always feels fresh. Different strokes.

If you have any LA recommendations I’d love to hear them.

One question: Who was the guy on your left. I was a cheerleader at Syracuse and he had me beat.
Also, I for one appreciate your alternate personality... it was entertaining.

That guy entertained us all game. When his shirt came off, I almost cried from laughter.

I lived in Long Beach for 18 years. I really liked Belmont Brewing Co and Ballast Point for casual and Parker's Lighthouse for upscale. All three were on the water.

In Vegas I heard that you’re the one who pays. At least that’s what it said on the cards that those very nice people handed me on the Strip.

I used Turo last year when I went to Vegas, I rented a Tesla S, didn't drive it often and it was in a secured spot 95% of the time. I took pictures of it when I dropped the car off. To my shock 3 weeks later when I had a claim against me for 2500 dollars for a damaged rim and I had 72 hours to dispute it. I did and I showed how obviously there was no difference between the pickup and drop-off photos of the rims and they ruled against me.
This is one of the most bizarre things I've ever gone through, I could've gone through my insurance but I've been arguing this out of spite for over a year. I thought Turo was the coolest thing ever, but man this has been an absolute nightmare.

Loved your post, brought me back to my time there. The In and Out where you're talking about used to be the one I'd go to the most, but back then that area wasn't nearly as insane as it is now. I can't believe how much it changed in such a short time.
My son had same issue with Enterprise. Spoke to a friend who used to work with them who told us it happens often, mostly if you don’t pay for their insurance coverage. Was advised to get your own pictures with a written sign off when picking up and dropping the car off while keeping your own with dated pictures- inside and out He said most customers sadly end up in being in a hurry picking up and dropping off while the car rental place is also rushing to get cars in and out the doors for revenue including extra charges and get their insurance to lessen the chances of being targeted for any crazy damage charges.

The guy directly to my left, as I faced the field? I do not know who that fellow was. I think he saw my nametag and said he was a fan of my posts. and that he was a lurker. But I met a lot of people that day and maybe I am getting him confused with someone else.

Or are you talking about the guy who sat next to him? The one who somehow lost his shirt during the overtime? I am not sure who he was either but pretty sure he is on the board. I have never been great at asking people what their handle is.

Glad I didn't offend you. It is not unusual when at a home game, some outsiders come to my section, sit in the row in front of me and leave within the first 5 minutes. I tell myself that they should know a college football game is not a night at the opera or a library but it still makes me feel bad when I drive people away like that.

So surprising, Tomcat, considering how many opposing coaching staffs always loved the camaraderie you enthusiastically would provide at the top of the dome for them. They had a one man heavy metal concert performance that just has to be missed. Go get em Tom, you’re the Clark Kent/Superman at games - love it!

Revulsion to Body wash is mostly a boomer thing, or so I’m told by my younger nieces and nephews.

Tomcat, I saw you, I meant to reach out and say hello, but something always got in the way (Hoffman’s, other conversations, need for water, etc.) Next time I will absolutely introduce myself. Keep up the good work.

I hear you. I was running about too, trying to keep putting cold drinks into me and talking to lots of old friends, and some next ones. The tailgate went far too quickly.

Next time!

A fun fact is that if you use your own insurance renting out of state there is no deductible for comprehensive claims notwithstanding your policy language, NY law. Had this happen when someone knocked the mirror off my rental in FL.

Kahuna burger!!!

I drove into Vegas Thursday afternoon and stopped to eat in Boulder City on the way to see Hoover Dam. Boulder City really has their act together.

I had tried to find a Guy Fieri dive to eat in while driving thru CA, to no avail - I had given up trying. In old town a nice lady tells me to eat at the Coffee Cup which, to my great surprise and delight, turns out to be a place Guy filmed an episode.

Of course, I got the Kahuna burger that was featured on the show.
