guards in Syracuse history.
I admittedly, am not as astute about Syracuse basketball as many on here. I’ve been a fan a long time and graduate but am curious if there is an absolute consensus on the board.
If you wonder consider ranking them I would love to see the responses.

apologies if this post is redundant

You look at your top ten and you think ok, pretty good and then you look at your 2nd list and you think Flynn and Waiters were high draft picks. MCW was Rookie of the Year. Jason Hart had a long NBA career. Battle and Triche did a lot of good things for a long time. It's not as easy as one would think.

I tried my best to emphasize the guys who had the best college careers as opposed to who were the most talented, and also not to succumb to recency bias and forget about guys in the 70s like SU fans always do.

Amazing group

Triggers a question for me. Is our legacy of guards equal to or greater than our legacy of forwards

Not to dominate the thread but forwards are almost certainly better. Melo, Coleman, Owens, Wallace, Warrick, Wes Johnson and many more.

Wow. Can’t dispute your take and we have had some amazing athletes here

Do you put shackelford in yhere

He's in the second tier with guys like Kris Joseph and Todd Burgan. Probably on the fringe of the top ten.

no love for dennis duval
before my time, but listening to my dad i'd have to put him in the top 10
maybe by moving leo to the forwards

Gmac is my all time favorite and I get the NC but I think Moten should be ahead of him.

I think most of us would have the same top 3, after that its how you decide to break it down.

Do you reward a full career of excellence (Moten and McNamara) or one amazing season (Dion and Andy Rautins)? I will tell you this, in my basketball watching life Syracuse only had 2 guards who I thought were the best guard in the country, Sherman Douglas and Dion Waiters. Dion played in a weak year for guards, and isn't on the level of Sherm and Pearl, but his team practically went undefeated and while they were talented 1-10 he was the guy who had the ball in his hands in crunch time. I'd have Dion 4th on my list if we were prioritizing highest peak over sustained greatness or very goodness. Also Rautins Sr. year was amazing across the board, offense, defense, passing, rebounding, everything, and it might have been the best shooting year any SU player ever had.

Leo was a forward.
