Raymon's waiver was denied

What I expected w/o having all the facts.

at this point... i am OK with him sitting this year out. gives us 1 more year with him on the back end.

i do really wish nassib had 1 more year...

He redshirted last year at Iowa like Quinta did at Arkansas so both will only get 3 years of college football. The NCAA is basically taking 1 year of eligibility from him, but college coaches can leave whenever they want without any repercussion.

I dont think it does... he a already redshirted at Iowa

His eligibility clock started at Iowa and continues here. He (only) has three years to play at Syracuse.

Per the P-S.

Time to move on, but too bad the kid/team was in limbo for so long.

On the positive side, it will be great to finally add all that size (Raymon and Wayne Williams) to D line for the start of ACC play.

Not sure SU handled this well with multiple public insinuations that things "looked good."

As Raymon isn't from here and the NCAA hates setting precedents unless under Ped State like occurrences, not a surprise.

he would have had 3 either way, right? or would he have had 3 years and 9 games if he played this year?

Whatever he could play in 2012, plus 2013-15. If he was cleared to play this season, he would have played. Even if it was 6 games or less.

When it didn't happen versus NW, it seemed that the waiver would not be granted.

Too bad.

I'm just thankful that the NCAA employee assigned to this case can finally take a vacation. Think of all the long nights in the office gathering facts about this. Has to be why it took so long.

Kind of agree with Mad. SU may not have done itself any favors. I picture someone at the NCAA getting wind of SU saying they think "everything looks good". And the super important person that heard this thinking "oh they do, do they? Well, let's sit on this for a few weeks, and then tell them no. That will teach them."

gotcha...

that sucks. i hate the ncaa.

I know the rules are different in the 2 divisions but ironic that Raymon had to watch from the sidelines, his former teammate Coker play in the Dome last Saturday after also leaving Iowa this year.

The NCAA is horribly worthless. What can't they make a decision before the 4th week of the season. It is unacceptable. They either approve or deny.
