This run and his stats against SE Louisiana are about all we can hang our hat on. I know LSU, etc. - good get but I will wait until September to see how good.
That is sort of what I was thinking. He averaged 3.8 per carry but that run alone was a 56 yard run. That means the rest of his carries were 40 carries for 100 yards or 2.5 yds per carry which obviously isn't so good. I will say that he did have 2 RB's splitting carries ahead of him and they didn't have awesome averages either. They were respectable though at about 4.6 per carry. But the LSU offense was pretty bad and i'm guessing more of Johnson's carries were in different situations than the other 2 backs so you can't really compare apples to apples. I'm guessing he had some later game carries and also likely in more passing situations where the defense may have been blitzing him.

He strikes me as a complement RB to a power downhill runner. We'll see if/who the other transfer RB is.

Hopefully he’s coming in at safety. Just like the S. Carolina TE this is another SEC transfer who has yet to prove himself after 2 years in college. Both high risk, high reward. I’m weary of these transfers who haven’t produced yet in college after 2 years. This is the difference in the portal. Syracuse can only get these guys, while the ones with money get SEC/B10 transfers who are proven players. I would rather have got James Jones from Delaware St and Ahmad Miller from Jackson St.

I kind of want a mixture of both. You need these SEC athletes to raise your ceiling, but also proven producers and football players at lower levels to raise your floor.

Yeah he may be the back-up to Nixon if he goes down or as a back who is a better pass catcher or maybe insurance incase Nixon doesn't get an additional year?

It worked for Meeks, Amba and Trishton. It didn't work for Juwaun Price. Really depends on the players, injuries, circumstances, etc. At least with Smith and Johnson, you can see the potential. Now make it work.

Look this kid could be a backup backup at qb and or rb. I like Hills moves better but I also swore Willis was getting 1000 yds this year so.

I like this pick up, but understand people who question whether he can be an every down back. TBD.

Do we know if Nixon is coming back next season? Fran's comments seemed contradictory to what Nixon indicated at the end of the season.

These are just like our promising young guys who are transferring out. We're worried about losing Ross Hornsby and Singleton but they haven't produced either. It's all a crapshoot.
