Class of 2016 RB Kentrail Moran (IL) DeCommit from Illinois

Moran just tore it up last night. About 250 yards and 4 TDs. Please come here Mr Moran

interesting that since firing the coach, Illinois is quietly 4-1 with a win over Nebraska this past weekend. NE might be down but still; we'd be doing cartwheels at 4-1 with a win over Nebraska. The AD might just keep Cubit as HC with a good season.

He's definitely doing a solid job but I read here that MAC guys can't hack it in P5 conferences. Michigan might be the best team in Big 10 right now, scary what Harbaugh has done there that quick. The loss to Utah looking like they just lost to a very very good team in first game out.

Moran seems totally pumped by the resurgence in the Illini program. At least thats what a twitter pyscho would see looking at his feed. This will be a very difficult flip unless we show more upward trajectory this year than they do. Pivotal for us to go 8-4ish to make statements with recruits like this.

Do we think that Shafer and co. have a good shot at getting him? He could be a nice replacement to RW

Yes. He is a very realistic possibility.

Really? I mean I know he is a Illinois commit, no? What makes you think he's so keen on the Orange?
He is. He's an Illinois commit, sure. But they fired their coach already, and he has a great relationship with members of our staff. He's very much in play.

Good to hear I like that.

If anyone wants to have their stomach turn, read the report about Beckman that was just released. I thought the guy was a pr**k back to his Toledo days, but he is way worse than that. A lot of turmoil at Illinois, a school that is dysfunctional on a good day.

This RB has a deal of power going through the LOS and the speed to get into the secondary fast. That is something we haven't seen a lot of in a long time Joe Morris was a cannon ball when he shot through the line . nce he was about five yards past the tackle zone he was on his way to a long gain if not a TD. No Motran isn't Joe Morris but he could still be a huge get considering the situation we are in currently Moran an Fredericks in the same backfield could be what dreams are made for.:eat popcorn:couchburn

Well, well, well...

(He's tweeting at Moe Neal for a follow back, presumably so they can DM each other, for the people who don't do Twitter)
As exciting as this is. No way in the world he commits here without a coach. Once we get someone (Frost) in place, he has to be evaluated and get his offer re-affirmed. Yet somehow, you just get the sense the kid wants to come here regardless of all of that. Frankly, how can you not want a 4 star kid who wants to join your program?

We just passed on a committed 5 star kid. Stranger things have happened.

That said - we're still looking for a RB, right?
Sign this kid up!

We passed on a committed 5-star kid for very good reasons, but let's not rehash that, it's in the past. Just know that there were very good reasons to say no.

Seeing as how it was Shafer who passed, and he's no longer here, I'd be deathly curious if the new guy would have kept Clark despite his baggage, whatever it may be. Sadly we wil never know
