Class of 2025 RB Malachi Coleman (VA) COMMITTED / SIGNED NLI TO SYRACUSE (12/4/24)

There is a big difference. These recruits once evaluate are being rated as 86, 87, 88 and 89. Not 81,82 or 83 in the past classes.
Fran and his coaches can clearly evaluate. These are not diamonds in the rough. These are top players that had not been evaluated. We have more 87, 88 and 89 then any past classes under other coaches. I remember when our highest recruit was an 87 and everyone else was lower. Most peer schools would love to have a class with multiple 87, 88 and 89 players.
11 of our 12 commits are in the top 1,000 according to all day every day. That's more than we would get in 3 years. And we're about halfway done with the class. Exciting times.

Building a core team with size and strength in trenches and speeeeeed everywhere else as a base and then supplementing with elite talent transfers to fill whatever roster holes exist perhaps?

Kid can scoot. Have always admired the high hurdles.

My buddy ran hurdles against both Paul Lankford and Renaldo Nehemiah who were both superior hurdlers and pretty good football players (Nehemiah only at the pro level, of course) back in the day. My friend was excellent, eventually earning a scholarship to St. John’s, and was a year younger, but he got smoked by those two that day. Memories fade, but it might have been at the Loucks games. If I recall, Art Monk also ran hurdles, but was 1-2 years older.

You are in good company. Welcome young Mr. Coleman.

Art indeed ran hurdles. Set two state records. Look towards the end of this excellent article on him.

If u think about it, it takes exceptional hip mobility and flexibility to do. Think about making cuts and running over not thru people and it tskes same mobility and flexibility.

I saw Malachi play last night...
Alot of talent here,,,,speed yes for sure running a 10.7 100M.
But he also has great acceleration.
He will wait for his line to throw blocks. Has very good "vision" as well.
First play from scrimmage...he took it to the house from 58 yards.
Later in the 2nd half...he scored again from 65 yards out.
Now the team he played against is a very solid high school program...went to a state final last year.
Malachi also caught a pass working out of a slot position...effortless-good hands.
In short, if he can put on about 10 to 12 lbs of good weight/improved strength
without losing the speed and acceleration, we've got a very talented back coming in next year!!

And even if it takes him a season or 2 to add the weight, he could still contribute on ST’s, or maybe as a slot guy or 3rd down back on O.

You can’t teach that kinda speed.

And we’re gonna have a LOT of it on our future rosters.

UPDATED 3/14/2024

THE IMPORTANCE OFTHE 40 YARD DASH

It is primarily run to evaluate the speed and acceleration of American football players by coaches and scouts particularly for the NFL Draft but also for collegiate recruiting. A player's recorded time for every position can have a heavy impact on his prospects in college or professional football.

OK = 5.0 - 5.99

OK! = 4.9 - 4.99

FAIR = 4.8 - 4.89

GOOD = 4.7 - 4.79

FAST = 4.6 - 4.69

FAST! = 4.5 - 4.59

>>>>VERY FAST<<<< = 4.4 - 4.49 > WHERE EVERY RB, WR, AND ALL DB’S WANT THEIR TIME TO BE AT A GAME TIME OR AT THE COMBINE

ELITE = 4.0 - 4.39 > TRANSFER ZEED HAYNES 4.39 IS HERE NOW, MALACHI JAMES 4.39, IS A FEB. SIGNEE< MARCELLUS BARNES 4.39 IS A DEC SIGNEE

ASSETS PER HUDL FILM:

O
VERY FAST /VERY QUICK
EXCELLENT JUKES/'FAKES
GREAT STIFF ARMS (RARELY NEEDED)
THROUGH LOS AND AT FULL SPEED ONCE PAST DL'S NO ONE CATCHES HIM UNLESS A SAFETY HAS A GREAT ANGLE
HURDLES DB'S
LOOKS FASTER THAN A 4.4 IN FILM

NOTE: THERE IS A RB WITH THE SAME NAME COMMITTED TO NEBRASKA WHO RUNS A 4.28.
IF YOU ASK GOOGLE, HOW FAST DOES MALACHI COLEMAN RUN THE 40 THE WRONG PLAYER COMES UP. ALL STATS ARE FROM HUDL AND EVEN HUDL HAS HIM WITH A VJ OF 10?! MOST ALL OF THE RATINGS SITES EITHER DON'T HAVE ENOUGH INFO, OR WHAT THEY DO HAVE CAN BE INCORRECT. I ALWAYS CHECK WITH MILESPLIT UNITED STATES, A TRACK SITE, WHO IF THE ATHLETE IS FAST WILL HAVE HIS TIME AND PR FOR EACH EVENT.

D
