I think you miss my point. Roberson can be a very effective pick and roll player--just not as a spot up shooter because, well, he can't shoot. If he spots up at the 3point arc, defenses will just leave him alone to guard the pick and roll 3 on 2. In most instances, Roberson should be the "roll man" or "rim runner" while Lydon is spotting up. Defenses can't leave Lydon, and now G and Roberson can play 2 on 2 (mostly) in the pick n roll. And I agree, most of the trouble is that G isn't particularly good at hitting the roll man. He often doesn't read the defense when trapped hard up top. He needs to be able to hit the open roll man or the open shooter if someone leaves the shooter to "bump" the roll man. And he has to be able to manipulate that defender who is caught in between with his eyes. That's tough stuff, but really good point guards do it consistently. Ginobili is probably the best player I've ever seen at this. G is a great player for us, but he's not exactly a point guard yet.
